I remember when Lacewell was hired and it was Jimmy who was the one given "credit" for bringing him in at the time. The reason was that Jimmy had been out of college football since 88 and didn't know any of the kids coming out then(1992). So the idea was to bring in Lacewell because he had recruited those kids and coached against them and knew if they could play or not. Didn't work out so well.

I wish Jimmy hadn't made us keep Lacewell for a decade after he left for Miami.

Aw man, lay off the guy. Celibacy must really suck. He probably can't sleep at night thinking about it. He's all worked up on hormones and thinks the adrenaline means he's clever.

Monotony bores me.

When we were little, we had these disney record players that would play records that went along with a book. I don't think they were real records, but eventually they would break. So we would throw them out, rather than be annoyed by their constant skipping and repetition.

We never missed them.

I didn't start the thread, nor am I the only one to mention Jerry. I've heard other's make their same lame homer excuses over and over, yet I don't see you whining about that. Not my fault you can't deal with the truth.

If you're bored, maybe you can make some more photoshops, those are always a big hit with the rest of the E.I.H.'s.

What's irrational is to try and sugarcoat the years when Jerry and Lacewell ran things and then try to credit Jerry for the work that was largely done by Jimmy and BP during those years.

But I know, Jerry is the one that is still here so some feel the need to vehemently defend and make excuses for him.

what's irrational, bach, is to say the jones that existed in those times is the same we have today.

no one is sugarcoating it, some just leave the past behind and realize jones has evolved greatly over the years. you point to what, 10 years ago to make a point about "bad jones"?

Maybe I need to re-read the thread but I don't hear anyone making homer excuses for Jerry unless you consider homer excuses to be

a) giving him some credit for the SB wins of 92, 93 & 95
b) agreeing that his/his helpers drafting from 1994 - 2000 (or therabouts) was putrid.
c) giving him some credit for the success this org seems to be building on the field over the last 5 years.

Which of the above 3 makes me a homer?

You don't find a way to kill Jerry in every post. Therefore you fall under

d) breathing.

I reckin you're an EIH.

I didn't say anything about today. This thread was about the past and that's what I commented on.

Just because you don't live in reality doesn't mean the rest of us can't.
Just want to make sure I'm clear on that.

Well it's nice to see that I at least started a new name for the forums.

E.I.H

If nothing else I'll always be able to be happy about being remembered for starting that, even if starting it has only been done in a way to laugh at me. :)

You're lucky, I'm stuck with having contributed "agenda."

He said he never heard of the player before and then just let it sit on his desk 3-4 days before bringing it over to Jerry. I don't know any other way to interpret it than what it is.

The Mosely column brought up the issue of what really rests a little uneasy with me about the PacMan situation. It's just not that PacMan is a lowlife, although he clearly is, I just don't feel the need to find my personal heros and villians from NFL players ... but rather Jerry has this annoying habit of thinking he can somehow cheat the system. And by cheat the system, I mean there is really only one tried and true way to build and maintain championship teams... have a clear long term vision and team philosophy, evaluate talent with those parameters in mind and patiently develop it for 2-4 years until they become the football players you envisioned. Jerry often times thinks he can circumvent this and add talent on the cheap through high risk fliers like Dimitrius Underwood, Alonzo Spellman, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Tank, PacMan. Oftentimes it feels like Jerry's "shortcuts" seem to end up putting this franchise back farther than if he would just do things the longterm and right way.

Inman...BRAVO! Exactly my thoughts as well...

Something that also is never brought up about the draft is this...were all of these guys terrible players or was our coaching staffs just not good at developing players???? Can someone name me the last stud receiver we drafted and developed? Michael Irvin? Anyone else? How about defensive back? T-New, but before that? Kevin Smith? I think the reason we were bad for so long after Jimmy left was bad GM, bad drafting and even worst coaching....But I agree with Inman, Jerry trying to cheat the system puts us farther and farther back each time he does it....
