Jersey Swapping

I'm an old-school fan and I don't like the Jersey swap, I don't like the end zone celebrations, I don't like the fact that you can't hit anyone, I don't like players on Twitter and I don't like comedians on the pregame show. With all that said I still like the game of football

I can't stand it. I remember former Cowboy, Tashard Choice once asked for an opponents autograph after a game and I lost so much respect for him.

The only reason why people made a big deal was because we had just got our ***** kicked. Had we won the game, no one would have cared.

Back in the day we burned the other teams jerseys. Not smile in front of the camera exchanging them. Rivalry means nothing anymore. I hate it. Old people like me do.

I HATE the choreographed team TD celebrations! Horrible for the league's image IMO. It makes everything look like a joke. Really lame. Especially if it comes from a team who is losing or just completely sucks! Glad there aren't many of that kind of celebrations happening when Cowboys score. Except for the Amari Cooper free throw through the goal post thing. NFL is not about crushing the other team. It's about taking selfies.

I wonder do they really keep the jersey they exchange? Do they keep the jerseys, go home and tell the wife to wash it and put it in a trunk or something? I mean Jaylon smith does the exchange every game . He has to have close to 25 jersey at the least. What does he do with all those jersey?

They save 'em for the day they blow all their money, so they have something to sell.

I think one time I saw emmitts smith awards in a room on one of his interviews and he had a lot of players jerseys in glass cases on display. some players are fans of other players. I like to collect sports cards and if I had more room in my house I would buy some cowboys players jerseys and put them on display.

Emmitt has one gigantic **** ton of memorabilia. Every ball from every TD he scored, plus boxes and boxes of other stuff.

Most of these guys are collecting memories that they'll reflect on in the years to come. I have no problem with that.

Yeah you will likely never see that in the NFL. The college game is like what you are saying to a much smaller extent. They don't do it during games but the college game has a better atmosphere than the NFL. But chants, songs, etc. during the entire game is something that we will never see in the NFL. Crowds are either too corporate sit on your hands type to do that, or they just want to watch the game. Also, yeah not only are Atlanta United (I hate this name btw) fans far more passionate than Falcon fans. They are more passionate than every NFL fanbase.

No doubt about that with football vs NFL supporters. It amazes me how NFL fans aren't very passionate about their team at the stadium. I mean, your paying a lot of money for entertainment, presumably to be as loud as possible to see the team win. Players feed on fan passion, and English football is very clear with that. I can understand wanting to watch the game, but I think that it is even more fun when the fans are involved and making an absolute scene.

For example, using an example for an NFL stadium (though, as you said, it is highly unlikely to happen in the NFL), if we were to play at the Chargers current stadium, an English football supporter might belch out a song in the tune of When the Saints go Marching In such as this, "My Garden shed! Is bigger than this! My Garden Shed is bigger than this! It's got a door, and a window! My Garden Shed is bigger than this!" Then it might shift to, "My budgy's (a bird) cage! Is bigger than this! My budgy's cage is bigger than this! It's got a perch and a mirror! My budgy's cage is bigger than this!" (found those on YouTube). So that's one way you can poke fun at opposing team's smaller stadiums. Could be worth a go for at least a few fans, but yeah, like you said, I don't reckon it'd happen.

I can't stand it. Here are two opponents battling it out for 60 minutes and then exchange signed jerseys at the end of the game. Just doesn't look right in my opinion.

I can see congratulating each other and a quick exchange of words, but swapping jerseys is just too much.

Do the swap in the locker room but get that stuff off the field.

Football is more enjoyable when you know both opponents can't stand each other compared to when opponents are best friends.

It is what sports stands for to me

I want to be my very best. If not for my oponent i wouldnt be able to achieve it. I need someone who challenges me in a good way.

They are old and times were different. Not close to the same outside of them playing the same sport..

Back then they wanted to be more than just part of a fraternity club. They gave a crap. Today, winning is way behind money and partying on the priority list.

The older players were broke with no free agency so yeah I bet they did give a crap and have "hatred". Also of course a fan who can't be traded or signed to an extension is going to be more emotionally invested than a player. That isn't saying much. If these older players were playing now they'd be just like the players now. When the team loses you look for reasons why that happens and old people really think this is one of the reasons.
