They just mentioned he'll be on later on the show. Saying that Michael Irvin has already gave him his stamp of approval.

**** Holley.

He was picked because of his size. The Cowboys will never go after a smaller receiver, which is ludicrous

Exactly. We've still been trying to replace Terry Glenn, a very underrated player in Romo's development.

Romo had the best rapport with TG, much better than any of the other receivers he's thrown to. Instead, we have a bunch of long striders and no one with any wiggle.

Great point on TG.

Touche. We dont have anyone who can explode coming out of a break and get separation. We dont have anyone who can move the chains underneath (ala Wes Welker). Anyone think Crayton, Williams, or Austin can take a 3 yard dump pass and get an additional 5 yards?

Granted it was not against professionals, Hawkins showed ability. The guy is a perfect underneath receiver, and showed ability on special teams.

I'm still bitter Holley got picked.

Please  Hawkins would have not made the roster and probably most likely Holley wont either. At best he makes it to Practice Squad.

Second, a nice as Hawkins speed and quicks, he wont last in NFL. Its one thing to look good against Scrubs with speed. But when playing against big time players, that won't work. THere is a reason he never hooked up with a team.

At least Holley was with an NFL team. Either way, I don't see much of chance there. At least, not until we see TC reports, that we can even think of Holley having a chance anyway.

Sweet.

Yet another thing for people to be all butt hurt about that I will have to see repeated ad nauseum from whiners here.

I'm so glad to hear that. There was not enough of overblown petty grievances around here.

I never saw Glenn as a guy with wiggle. He was quick and had a burst, which allowed him to get separation while running routes. When I think of wiggle I think of the ability to make defenders miss tackles when you have the ball in your hands and I rarely saw Glenn do that when he played.

I liked Hawkins, but it's not like he was a worldbeater. We already have a small quick guy on the roster in Manuel Johnson, who's senior year alone was better than Hawkins career numbers.

That's bothered me forever now. Haven't we seen what Santana Moss has done in our own division? Hasn't the whole league seen what Wes Welker has done the last couple of years?

Than again, RJ supposedly liked Royal and Avery last year, so maybe we aren't married to that philosophy anymore. In this particular case, we can't blame the team. It was all Irvin's ego wanting someone who reminded him of himself.

You don't think the Cowboys scouts had any input into who the show selected?

I suspect they (whoever 'they' was) just went with the form-factor that was safest for the position, or the guy who had prototypical size and who made mistakes on film that where readily correctible at the NFL level. It's possible these limitations made the person seem the poorer choice on tv, but that the player had more potential all-around.

I didn't watch any of the show, but it's also possible that it was edited to make Holley look bad and NextGen angry for purposes of controversy.

 Just like Desean Jackson right?

I'm sick of the whole size argument. Football is not played on paper. Throw the measureables out the window. If a guy can play, he can play.

From the looks of it, Hawkins could play better than Holley in the area's that the team needs the most help.

Holley didn't look bad, its just Hawkins looked outstanding besides one fumble.

It's possible, but I doubt it. None of these guys have a chance IMO... Although Hawkins at least offered something different than what we already have.

But I mean, Holley couldn't even make the BC Lions. He's like a poor man's Mike Jefferson.

I'm expecting big things out of Miles Austin this year, but I really hope we go after a young speedy receiver in the draft or FA next year.

Good thing Montrell Jones got hurt because it was obvious Irvin liked him.

After watching the show I believe that Montrell and Holley were the only ones actually competing for a job and the rest were there to take up space.

But you don't know that they just didn't show you Hawkins looking bad at other times. They could have edited that show to make any of the contestants look like all-pros or any of them to look like scrubs if they cared to.

Either way, it's possible for Hawkins to have been the better player and for them to still think that Holley had more potential for the NFL. I can't believe Cowboy scouts weren't involved in selecting which player they wanted even for the pre-cut roster.

I can't argue with that.
