With this kicking game it would be unconscionable and criminal not to kick the tires.
They have a proven kicker on the roster today. A guy that has the ability to get a touchback on every single kickoff and can make a 60 yarder at the end of the game or half.

Kicking the tires while it is still training camp doesn't mean it is not going to be Maher.

At all positions I believe competition is necessary. Also it is the responsibility of the team to make sure they know what is out there and can see how they perform.

Adding some edge to the rest of Maher's camp and seeing Pineiro, who would be new to the Cowboys, would keep their roster options up to date.

I would not go back the Garibay or Lirim for this season if Maher is the kicking thesis I am pursuing. I would want someone with similar or better performance in terms of distance.

Still over 80%. What is good 95%?

Extra points should be 90 percent and above. Field goals 85 percent and above.

18 kickers last year with at least 20 attempts made more than 85 percent of their FGs (and I didn't count the numerous kickers with fewer than 20 attempts over 85 percent). At least 20 kickers made 90 percent or more of their PATs.

Zuerlein's substandard year and Maher's substandard career should not convince us that less than the average is a good thing.

Dallas likes average. Keeps them in the conversation..

Based on the numbers from last year, the kicker they have was average on FGs in his best year and below average on PATs.

What screwed his stats was 2019 was a bad year for FG but hit all XP attempts. Missed 10 out of 30 FG.

2019 - Missed 2 out of 8 from 30-39.
1 of 5 from 40-49.
4 of 8 from 50+.
Long was 63.

But last year he only played 8 games and missed 2 of 18 FG. 1 from under 40 yards and 1 from over 50. And missed 2 XP out of 12.

Actually I don’t know what they are looking at. I guess he is better than the other guy on long kicks and don’t miss many XP. Was pulling for the undrafted kid..

Anyone think Pineiro is worth picking up. He was 8-for-8 last year and 9-of-10 on extra points. In the preseason, he was 1-for-1 and 2-for-2.
He sounds great compared to the long line of horrible kickers that have come through Dallas.
