He never was any good.

He isn't any good.

And he won't be any good.

1 Super Bowl in 18 years.

Granted his prime was spent taking beatings to the Cowboys, but we have watched him single-handedly end his teams playoff hopes how many years now?

Stats schmats. He was just a country boy with a big arm that people fell in love with, never was a great quarterback. Just an above average arm that made poor decisions.
You forgot to add a lock for first ballot HOF.

I gotta give Thomas Jones credit, at least he manned up enough to have his name put with what he said.

But I do have to say these 'annonymous players' who tell these things are getting silly. If you are going to open your mouth, the least you could do is be man enough to put your name with it like Thomas did.

i'm sure that's the same reaction a lot of our players have when romo throws up those wounded ducks like he does almost every game.

Wouldn't doubt it's getting old for everyone from fans, the janitor, players, coaches, and the owner.

He is electric and many fans want to see the things he does both bad and good. I'm not convinced every fan cares about winning.

I cant believe the Jets basically abandoned the running game in December, after it had been such a force for them all season. Mangini was very foolish to do so.

Somebody pays attention. Wonder what happened to our running game. Were we really unable to run the ball?

So was Troy Aikman. And I believe that Troy was 10 times the QB Favre is.

Yeah, he's a lock for first ballot alright................

But he as as many rings as Trent Dilpher and Doug Williams and Brad Johnson.
His numbers are gaudy, yeah. But inflated because he refuses to "go away".
He was horrible his first five years. Became "dependable" for the middle of his career, and has been "part of the problem" since around 2001.
Anything that happens in Green Bay gets over-hyped and blown out of proportion. "The frozen tundra". "Vince Lombardi". "Lambeau feild", etc, etc.....They're STILL living off of stuff that happened in the '60's for heavens sake. The only thing that has happened in Green Bay since then has been Favre, so he becomes "godlike" up there. If he played his career in Atlanta or Seattle or Chicago, he'd be just another Vinny Testeverde or a Warren Moon. Pretty darn good during his prime, but certainly no top-tier.
His last two pass's in "The Frozen Tundra" were, fittingly and of course, interceptions that cost the Packers the NFC Championship game last year.
That was a poetic ending and perfect micro-ism of what Favre's been all about for 18 years.
Of course, you'll never hear any of that from Chris Berman and his cronies who just gush and salivate over anything and everything "Farve", "Green Bay" or the "NFC Norse Division"..................

But...John Madden thinks Favre is the bestest QB to ever grace a football field! Dosen't that say something about the guy?

I got this guy who works for me that moved here from Wisconsin four years ago.
I swear, if you don't just utterly fall down and worship the ground that Favre walks on, this guy literally resorts to tantrums and tears. It's an anger, veins popping out of the neck, wild eyed and crazy thing that happens. It's more about Favre than even the Packers................
That's the way it is when you come from a place where the ONLY entertainment for you dollar are the Packers. The Sun rises and sets on this weird idol-worship of Favre up there. I had him literally CRYING on a few occasions when I pointed out some of the things that I listed above.
That's what happens when your couped up in sub-zero weather for 6 months a year, and have NOTHING to live for except THE ONLY SHOW within a 6 hour radius.
And then, it spreads out a little. There's some strange romanticism about small markets (of which Green Bay is the poster child) that gets people all fuzzy and warm...................and cause them to go WAY OVERBOARD with they're gushing and love affair with that team or market. Enter Favre......
Favre certainly benefited from this phenomena. Probably 40%-60% of all the accolades and snuggle-fest you get with Favre is a result of WHERE he played, and not THAT he played the game well.
There are some 2,000 players in the NFL. There's alot of fathers and mothers and siblings passing away each year. Players, like everyone else, battle demons, get divorced, have family trouble............just life. But, when it happens to Favre, it's a drama and a media event. Every little thing that occurred in Favre's life, it's straight to the podium, microphones and camera's clicking, and little Bretty shedding a tear.
He got so used to the "whole world revolving around Brett" in Wisconsin, so therefore the whole country must feel that way about me too.
That explains the "retire or won't he retire" tap-dance we've been seeing for the last 8 years. He just can't understand why the ENTIRE CIVILIZED WORLD isn't concerned and curious about HIM. After all, in his little bubble world, the very existence of all of mankind depends upon HIM............

I apologize for the rants. It's just that I've been studying this Favre-thing for years. I find it fascinating the extent of "human worship" I see with this guy. The "man crush" thing.
Bottom line............If the Panthers hadn't been the benificiary of a bad Cowboy week, Dallas would've won that game and, AGAIN, AS USUAL, 100% CERTAIN beaten the Puckers the next week. And Favre wouldn't have even gotten his meazly ONE ring................AND THAT'S A FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No need to apologize...rant on. However, if you will just use some paragraphs in your long posts I'm sure more people will try and understand what you are saying, otherwise, like I did, they might just skip right over it.

It's hard on the eyes to read. It's something like this...

Yeah, OK...........

BUT IT'S STILL A MATTER OF FACT about that whole mess back then.
If you recall, Micheal Irvin and Nate Newton were falsely and unjustly accused of something sexual midweek entering into that playoff game against the Panthers. In fact, the woman who made the accusation TOTALLY recanted, apologized, and was sued.
But the damage was done. The media circus and distraction was fatal. Dallas lost to Carolina. The Packers played the Panthers the next week and the Packers won.
I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT!!! Then "Brett Favre and HIS Green Bay Packers" went on to defeat a lowly Patriot team led by Parcells. The Packers we're instantly dubbed "The new America's Team", which pissed me off even more.
Of course, they went on to lose their chance for "back to back" to the Elway-led Broncos the following year.

Had Favre had to take his usual route to "glory", through Dallas, he would've of course LOST AGAIN. Because the Cowboys, joyfully, were/are his "bugaboo", a thorn in his side he'll forever live with.

Remember "Raging Bull"? "You never got me down Ray, you never got me down". You NEVER beat the Boys Brett, you never beat the Boys..........

I refuse to believe that there can be any trouble in any other locker rooms. TO can only be on one team at a time!

Lord knows that there's nothing of the sort going on for other teams or the media would be all over it, just like they do for us..............right?

Thomas Jones has some nerve. one of the main reasons he had such a good season was because Favre was behind center

Stats schmats. He was just a country boy with a big arm that people fell in love with, never was a great quarterback. Just an above average arm that made poor decisions.

Well, that's just dumb.
