Lions head coach Jim Schwartz made stopping Bryant the focal point of his defense, and said that they were “double covering Bryant on both of his touchdown passes.”

“We were doubling Dez Bryant just about the entire game and he still made two touchdown catches,” Schwartz said. “Both of them, he was doubled. One of them was an over-under zone, and the other was a true double man. And he kept on making a play on us.”

Dez will be Dez

call me a homer but Dez's 1st TD catch was more impressive than anything Calvin did all day, considering the difficulty of that specific catch.. that ball should've been incomplete for all intents and purposes

i know i know, "but Calvin went off for 300+ yds" well yeah, that's not surprising when you're targeted 11tybillion times a game

Cowboys didn't think this was the case, didn't target Dez enough.

Dez could of did alot more damage. He was getting open alot. The guy holding the ball has to give him more looks. I noticed based on the defense tony will have in his head a person he wants to throw the ball to. Some of the plays romo wouldn't even look dez way. Dez should be our primary wr almost every time he is that good.

He was not getting open a lot but keep on fantasizing. The same people all week were saying Dez was running loose in single coverage but when the game tape came out it was clear that he wasn't. You'd best go back to playing Madden... there you can throw jump balls to Dez on every down and even hit reset when it doesn't work.

The saying "When he's not open, he's still open"

Applies to guys like Dez, Mega, Larry, Andre, Marshall, AJ...ect

If our offensive line can stop getting pushed around then I am perfectly fine throwing it up for grabs to Dez a few times on low risk bombs where Dez either catches it, bats it away or it's intercepted on their end. That's smart football. Forcing the ball to Dez regardless of the coverage is dumb football. I don't know if you saw the game but Johnson did not catch 14 jump balls into double coverage. He was obliterating single coverage and catching the ball both moving and in space.

Coaching has to help Tony by putting Dez in a better position. All comes back to coaching.

I agree, so move him around and mix up the formations.

I disagree watching the All-22.

He was open, a lot.

Romo wasn't on his A-game and couldn't quite get in sync or didn't bother to look his way or for whatever reason, couldn't pull the trigger.

I posted this in another similar thread, but Romo was 13 of 19 205 yd 3 td 0 int 143.6 when he wasn't pressured. IOW, when his pass protection held up, Romo was destroying the Lions' secondary, whomever he was targeting.

Probably Romo's pre-reads. It tends to make him ignore Dez if the safety is cheating to his side. Can you deny or confirm?

I don't think their coverage on dez was much different than ours against megatron.

The main difference is they went to him anyway, no matter what the coverage. That's what playmakers do. They make plays. That's our biggest problem with dez. We don't give him that chance enough.

Of course, it helps if Tony actually has time to get him the ball. He probably did his presnap read and saw that they were rolling coverage to dez. Then he decided to look somewhere else first. Even though dez eventually broke open, tony rarely had time to go through his progressions.

This is bull. DEZ had absolutely no one covering him at all for the entire game. He had a free pass to the endzone on every play. Problem was that Romo didn't throw the ball to him and threw to receivers that were double covered. LOL.

Like Aikman was saying today; night and day comparing Dez' route-running to Calvin's.
Just not even remotely close.

He then talked about how Irvin could bust double teams by running great routes and being physical--but he had to do both.

Thank you sir. You MUST at least check Dez's side for a second to a second and a half before you go else where with your looks. Even if it appears he's double teamed. If Dez goes off, it opens it up for every one, including runners, other receivers. And holding the ball long will get you sacked or hurried against good defensive pressure. I don't know how else to explain this to the Romo crowd. They're just not listening or don't care about logic.

I hear a lot of people on this forum blaming coaches for not moving Dez around, but do they honestly believe they're smarter then our coaches, including Jason Garret? Our coaches understand you can move players around to create better match ups, but it does no good if the player you're moving around doesn't fully understand what to do.

The funny thing is many here believe Dez runs GREAT routes, at least that's the way it comes across. I remember leading up to the game when everyone was (trying) comparing Dez to Calvin, you had quite a few here giving the edge to Dez on route running. :D
