Dez is 6th in targets this season. They want to get him the ball.

That stat is misleading because i like everyone else on this forum have watched the games and there are times when they go away from him for the entire quarter, the Chiefs & Chargers games are perfect examples of them not utilizing him properly. The fact that he's 6th in targets is insulting because with his talent he should be no less than 2nd.

The two guys leading the league in targets play for the two worst teams in the NFL, Tampa and Jacksonville.

To be 2nd in the NFL in targets, Dallas only had to target Dez just over 1 more time per game, which isn't that much.

Insulting? I don't even know what that means with respect to this stat or football in general. Perhaps you are taking being a fan of Dallas too seriously.

Calvin Johnson is 4th in the league in targets with 79, which is only two more than Dez. I guess Detroit fans should be insulted, too.

That stat isn't misleading at all. The Detroit game is just a poor representation as to how much the Cowboys are trying to get Dez the ball.

And as i said the Chiefs game is a perfect example of them not giving him the ball, he had 5 for 100 in the 1st quarter and it was like they raised the mission accomplished banner. They had Dez single covered on the 9yd line and decided a screen to Williams was a better option, i'm sorry but in key situations they still don't target him like they should and it really screws up the offense.

One major difference with CJ and another other receivers.

His target zone is so much greater.

Source Sports Science video

Lastly, Johnson's reach might be the most impressive part of the video. Combining his 45-inch vertical, 6-foot-5 frame, 6-foot-10 wingspan, and 8-feet-8-inch standing reach, Johnson has a reach similar to that of Shaquille O'Neal's, which is apparently the largest ever documented in the NBA -- 12-feet-5-inches

Even if it's not a jump ball having a almost 7 foot margin for error ( wingspan ) on a normal route is quite a luxury.

Dez could of did alot more damage. He was getting open alot. The guy holding the ball has to give him more looks. I noticed based on the defense tony will have in his head a person he wants to throw the ball to. Some of the plays romo wouldn't even look dez way. Dez should be our primary wr almost every time he is that good.

I agree. I like romo but fez needs to be the first option every play. There are times he's single covered or gets past his man immediately (like Calvin Johnson's last catch to set up the game winner) yet romo looks the opposite direction after the snap. Infuriating.

And if KC had blitzed like they had ever other 3rd down to that point (like they were showing), the throw to Williams would have been walk in TD.

Was listening to NFL radio before the game tonight, and they were saying how Cincy's offense has taken off since they stopped trying to force the ball to AJ Green so much, and started spreading the ball around to the other receivers.

We need to get dez 7 or 8 RECEPTIONS a game. Targets don't mean nothing if he doesn't catch the ball or if its a bad pass.

That doesn't mean that it will happen here. Dallas went away from Dez forcing it to other players and it slowed the offense.

The big question is was he open where he was supposed to be?

Well considering there hasn't been any noise other them Johnson and Aikman talking about it for the last week and a half I would say that yes he is where he is suppose to be. There hasn't been any talk that he is running the wrong routes and you are just touchy with that crap

Armchair QB central here.
You'd think Romo dropped back, never got hit, had all the time in world, Dez was single covered, wide open running a perfect routes...and Romo just didn't want to throw to his favorite receiver.

It's so easy playing QB in the NFL. Why, even I can throw a perfect spiral under duress all day on Madden! Or if I watch in slow motion, the split seconds seem like an eternity.

Who cares that my QB has less turnovers that almost everyone, more TD passes than almost everyone, more yards, completion percentage, and passer rating than almost anyone in the entire league.
He sucks!
Unreal
