Jim Zorn using madden drills(the game) for coaching

Hey Zorn haters, heres your chance on showing how inexperienced Zorn is and how Madden is his insipration.

[FONT=Times New Roman,times,serif]Here at the start of the afternoon practice, one of Zorn's quirky quarterback drills has made its first appearance. No, not the slip n' slide, this instead is similar to a drill in the Madden video game training camp mode.

A quarterback stands in the middle of a circle surrounded by the other QBs and Zorn, and must avoid the large, silver exercise balls thrown at him as if avoiding on-rushing would-be sackers. If it were Madden and I had to guess, I'd say rookie Bret Meyer got the highest score...but I can't be too sure.

I actually think these kinds of exercises are the best. As long as they actually help a player improve, and don't just waste time, it's better for players to be having fun. I know when I was a teacher, making the lessons exciting was the most difficult, but most important part, of my job.

Holy cow.

There were other quirks new to the players and owner Dan Snyder, who sat watching Friday morning's session in the warm sun wearing a tie and chatting with friend and retired anchorman Bernard Shaw. Zorn broke out a net with three colored targets _ burgundy, gold and black _ and would yell out one of the colors as the quarterbacks dropped back to pass, a good test to see if they could adjust on the fly and hit the right color with the throw.

So are they going to add the points to his accuracy or awareness?

Because quite frankly, both need some work.

He's also doing the same thing Parcells did with the rookies. I actually liked this.

Zorn is also the first Commanders coach since Jack Pardee to have the rookies don blank helmets _ they've have to earn the right to wear the Indian-head logo.

I wonder if he has their highest pick (whoever that is) getting him water?

wow not only is he using "pocket presence" from Madden but this one too. "now jason it's just like in Madden where you're actually a decent qb"

I don't get all the hate, I'm sure he's not the first coach to have his QBs do agility drills and have them throw at targets. Jim Zorn is a good QBs coach. That much I know.
