Jimmy Clausen

Get real, you don't give up on a SB winner and a semi solid guy for an extremely unproven college QB. But heres to hoping the Giants follow your genius advice.

Eli Manning is not overly accurate, plus he is unmobile. I was in a argument with my Giant fan brother about why I would prefer Kyle Orton over Eli Manning, and my brother came down to "Eli makes better decisions, remember the catch" and I countered with "He just threw it and got lucky, wth decision was that he decided he didnt want to get sacked, wow revolutionary"

The FARTHEST he falls is 26 to Zona. So all you talking about how if he falls to Dall I hope Jery trades down for some crazy deal are going to be dissapointed.

Out of round 1 unless there is a trade up or he has a great personal workout for the Bills or someone like that.

i cant see him getting out of round 1. i think a solution to their problem got handed to buffalo. i can see buffalo with claussen and tate in round 1 and 2.

but if buffalo doesnt take him, just hope they dont invite him to the draft or it might be uglier then what rogers had to go thru

Clausen is noted for his accuracy which normally means WCO.

Extremely unproven - BS. He is as proven as any College QB is.

Yet Eli is still probably better than half the quarterbacks in the league. It would be stupid for the Giants to release him for an unproven rookie.

with what happened to today and mcnabb being traded. how far does clausen drop?
In this draft order:
Cleveland (60% if there?)
Oakland (40% if there?)
Buffalo (60% if there?)
Jacksonville (25% if there?)
SF (20% if he's there or 25% if at pick 17)
...
then toward the end of Rd 1 based on value and/or to groom for later
NE
GB
Az
Minn
Indy
...
then Rd, just about anyone due to value except for teams with very young but established QBs or who picked a QB in Rd1.

Maybe unproven is not an accurate description, but it would have been nice to see what Clausen could have done against a good defense this past season. Unfortunately he did not face any good defenses during the year to truly give him a good test. USC was supposed to be a good defense and instead they sucked badly this year.

If the New york football Giants wanted to become a good franchise they would release Manning and take him, but they settle for mediocrity at the QB position.

If that was tongue-in-cheek...good one.

If you are serious, well, that is disturbing.

I'll assume the former. :laugh2:

How many top D's did Bradford face? And he did it with a HUGELY better D; MUCH better O line; an actual running game and a better coaching staff.

Talk about leverage for Buffalo. If they want him signed on draft day, that could possibly happen...unless Clausen's agent is willing to see his client possibly lose many millions in a free fall.

I guess Jacksonville would consider him, but I think they like too many other players already (McClain, Harden, Thomas, Morgan, etc) and don't have an immediate need at QB.

Buffalo, Cleveland and Jacksonville all now have a bit more leverage to trade down if they like.

Also, Seattle is probably worried now, b/c another OL may get taken before they pick....so they may trade up.

Claussen or Dez at 27 is Jerrys dream scenario.
Clausen? You must mean for trade bait.

What does that have to do with Clausen? I don't think Bradford is going to be a great one, either. Doesn't matter. This discussion was about Clausen and as usual you get your panties in a wad when a Notre Dame player is dissed. I didn't even diss him. I just made a statement that it would have been nice to see him truly get tested this past season.

:stop:

this would be the dumbest move ever. Say what you want about Manning, but there's hardly no garuntee that Clausen will ever be as good as Manning.

Considering that Manning is the highest paid QB in the NFL history, I would take that risk.

He's not going to Cleveland.

Holmgren probably takes Berry or Odrick, and then goes Colt or Tebow in the 2nd round.

only the team with the #1 pick can negotiate with prospects prior to the draft. also there are so many quality linemen, I doubt Seattleis worried. Okung won't be there at #6, but they could possibly taget CBrown at #15 (slight reach, but the USC connection is there).

And when Brady and PManning sign extensions that will change. Reguardless it would be an horrible move

You can't sign a contract until you're on the clock. You can negotiate.

Yeah, i agree that there are plenty of OL, but that really is a big drop off between an Okung vs C Brown...maybe not in 3 years thoough.
