Jimmy Johnson, Darren Woodson, etc eliminated from HoF contention

People are always weirdly trying to give him Switzer’s ring, I figure that means he’s got to eat the L in that one...
I was aware in my OP, Switzer had taken over as a sideline spectator in 1994 to what Jimmy had already built. That is why I started, had JJ ego not gotten in the way, he'd have had at least two more rings. The Cowboys could have won 5 super bowls in the 1990's. We were the best overall assembled team in the history of the NFL and egos ruined it!!!

Let's not forget what also ended the Cowboys reign was Aikman's concussions, Irvin's back AND the salary cap!

Hopefully we win the SB and then next year Jerry can put Jimmy in the ROH and then he can be elected to the HOF. :D

But seriously the HOF is a joke as long as Jimmy isn't in it. You can't talk about the NFL in the 1990's without Jimmy.
He'll get in eventually.

Jimmy Johnson should be a concrete in if anyone ever was. He came into one of the worst franchises in NFL history and turned them into automatic SB champions in a few years. He built a team that went on the road into SF, young, talented and playoff inexpereinced on the road and guaranteed a win and pulled it off in dramatic style. He would have another two rings on his fingers if we didn't fall behind in a 21-0 before the game even started in the third SF rematch. And for sure would have won a few more, had Jerry been able to set aside his damn pride.
He also made one of the most famous locker room speeches, "How Bout Dem, Cowboys!"
And he developed the draft value charts that teams still use today.
He'll get in.

Darren Woodson and Herschel Walker are my all-time favorite football players, but I always knew they are on the edge of being HOFers.

Jimmy Johnson not being in is an absolute crime though. He has as many playoff wins (9) as Dungy in four less seasons, plus 2 Super Bowl wins compared to Dungy's 1. And the reason many give Jimmy credit for the 3rd Lombardi is because that championship roster was over 80% players that Jimmy drafted, signed, or traded for.

We probably don’t fall behind 21-0 with Jimmy as coach.

Jimmy will get in eventually. Herschel should be in for his trade value alone. La'Roi Glover? That's a weird one.

9 of 10 Cowboys were eliminated from the Hall Of Fame finalist contention list.

The only one who made it? Gil Brandt

The 9 Cowboys snubbed:

1) Jimmy Johnson
2) Darren Woodson
3) Nate Newton
4) Daryl Johnston
5) Russell Maryland
6) Herschel Walker
7) Dan Reeves
8) Jay Novacek
9) La'Roi Glover

A true American travesty! Those peoples will rule the day that they were born. So much friggin bias going on here.

HOF has got to easy to get in over the past 10 years. Woodson was great for us but I don't see him as a HOF but with how they put people in now you never know. Jimmy is borderline but I think he needs to be in.

Woodson not in the HOF?

Asinine....
Sadly what will wind up getting him in is sports politics since he works for BSPN. He should get in on his dominating his position and the game.

Believe Gil Brandt makes it in. He has been around forever and the Hall is finally looking seriously at contributors like him.
Jimmy belongs in. It's because he did everything so fast, that they overlook him. If Gayle Sayers and TD as players go in (played 6 years), same should apply to Coaches.
Jimmy sped up the game, gave HCs a shorter window to achieve success, the DT rotation, all the HOFs that are in because of his mark on the game, many reasons he belongs...
If Jerry would put the final stamp on him, Jimmy goes in.
Have a heart, Jerry. You and Jimmy were unbeatable together. It was the ugly divorce that overshadows Jimmy's legacy over all these years. All can end well. That is what I hope for.
And the Boys lack of Super Bowl success after all these years speaks volumes to Jimmy's contribution to the Dallas Cowboys legacy.
Jimmy Johnson is my all-time favorite NFL Coach. So colorful, so bold, a great Coach of all time. Poker player, risk taker, unafraid. He has the strongest personality I have ever seen. Love the man.

Dan Reeves and Hershel Walker should be in. Jimmy didn't coach long enough

no Chuck Howley.
no Lee Roy Jordan.
the hall has no credibility.
I'm more impressed by The Ring of Honor, personally.
great point, How Howley isn't in is beyond me, the HOF has always had a bias, it's a shame, just look at Bob Hayes and the time it took. It's a shame Jerry doesn't become more vocal on some of these players.

I can see why Glover makes the list.

4 time All Pro DT. 2 with Saints, 2 with the Cowboys
6 time probowler(all 4 years in Dallas)

His 17 sacks in 2000 were the second highest by a 4-3 DT in NFL history at that point.
Not sure any other DT has eclipsed that since then? Assume Watt and Donald are DEs in the 3-4.
DPOY in 2000.

Made the 2000's All Decade NFL team.

83.5 sacks from the DT spot.

He was a great player on bad teams most of his career. The Saints were the Aints and the Cowboys were bad outside of that blip in 2003.

Look, not many coaches could take a terrible QB like Peyton Manning and win just one Super Bowl with him. And check out how he set the table for Gruden. Yeah. I thought so.

Jimmy needs a more prominent role on TV. Perhaps he should consult Steve Young or Kurt Warner. HOF is a joke any more.
