If Jimmy ever goes into The Hall, it will be interesting to see how many players show up. I bet a large contingent would be there, including Jerry. So, yes, I agree that Jimmy should show support to these men who mean so much to his legacy.

Jimmy is never going to the Hall.

I agree, Jimmy's body of work in the NFL isn't long enough... I believe he should have coached at least 15 to 20 years.

Or maybe its because he hasn't done a whole lot in coaching outside of two SB's in dallas. And hasn't even really been in coaching all that long

and since when did you become a moderator?

Jimmy was the God of "Pre-Salary Cap"

Case closed, move along. nothing else to discuss here.

If that's so, then what are you complaining about?

You're getting upset with a rattle snake because it bites and spews venom.

Or as Woody's Girl said, some of you have bees in your behind.

And most of you complain about the media bringing up negative stuff in positive situations.

Physician heal thyself. Sigh.
Not really complaining, just adding my 2 cents.

Cuz "we're" not happy unless we have a bee up our butt...

How do you know Jimmy is not being the same jerk he has always been?

How do you know Irvin is not angry with him?

All the influence Jimmy had on Irvin from Miami to Dallas and Irvin is "cool" with Jimmy not showing up?

Remember how Irvin acted in the lockeroom when Jimmy left? He began throwing chairs and screaming in front of the media.

He mentioned Jimmy in speech with a four word sentence of acknowledgement.

That tells me a lot more than your assumptions that they are "cool".

Maybe because he mentioned how much he appreciated Jimmy?

Change is hard for some people.

Was he supposed to give him a novella-style tribute? Quality over quantity... You don't need a long-winded speech on how much you love someone, when just saying "I love you" to that person means the same thing.

That tells me a lot more than your assumptions that they are "cool".
Yeah, that some of you are thinking too hard about a non-story.

But carry on... Jimmy sucks. He's a hater for not showing up. And Irvin was "probably" mad, but didn't want to show it...

not sure if i missed anything or if anybody said this but last night I was thinking about how maybe theres a hidden reason of why Johnson left the cowboys that had something to do with the players (irvin, troy). any thoughts?

Yea you missed an entire thread on it. try looking around for I have lost respect for Jimmy

I thought the main reason was b/c of the comments that Jerry made towards Jimmy. Jerry, while intoxicated, said that anyone could coach the Cowboys to a Superbowl. He was sorta right. Barry Switzer did.

I thought Jimmy was close to Troy. I remember reading an article about them two bonding while talking about fish tanks or something like that. Obviously, Jimmy was pretty tight with Irvin.

I remember Jimmy got blasted for not going to Jerome Brown's funeral. I remember Jimmy said that he doesn't go to funerals b/c he doesn't like to see the last image of someone when they are dead; he wants to remember when the person when they were alive.

Even though Irvin discussed other teamates, coaches, reporters that were important in his life for several minutes each Jimmy was not one of them? Growing up in Florida I read many of stories of how Irvin and Jimmy had a father and son relationship, yet Jimmy does not show up?

Yeah, that some of you are thinking too hard about a non-story.

You are not thinking at all about Jimmy being a self serving person.
Wait a minute that is a new concept isnt it?
Imagine Jimmy being concerned about himself?

But carry on... Jimmy sucks. He's a hater for not showing up. And Irvin was "probably" mad, but didn't want to show it...[/quote]

My point is Jimmy should of shown up out of respect for Irvin, but you obviously would not feel obligated to be at such ceremonies for your friends and coworkers? That tells the story.

Remember how mad Irvin was when Jimmy left, I remember when they tried to interview him in the locker room after it happened and he threw the trashcan across the room, it wasn't just show he was really hurt and pissed.

Anyway, I don't know what Jimmy's deal is, he uses that "fishing" excuse all the time to dodge the "when are you going to coach again" question but it doesn't work for important stuff like this, it sounds dumb anyway just say you enjoy retirement nobody fishes that much.

I do remember when Emmitt was going to break the record they had a special on Fox with Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt and Jimmy and they all joked around about the good ol' days.

Random trivia, Jimmy Johnson was a high school classmate of musician Janis Joplin, its weird to realize Jimmy's that old.
