Some may disagree, but........they would be WRONG!:) Heres the thing guys, the draft is MUCH more about acquiring REAL NFL talent then it is about filling perceived needs on a roster. The team has done just that so far. But this reaching for need baloney :mad:Thats the kind of thinking that gets you players like.........Dwayne Goodrich, Kavika Pittman, Shante Carver, Quincy Carter, and Eb Eckuban. Its a losing game for the suckers. Jerry's been there done that, NO MORE! ALWAYS DRAFT talent,...ALWAYS. The needs will get taken care of. Truthfully I see the Cowboys taking a guard today, probably Petrus or Newhouse. Then maybe another corner or a safety.

After that I see us bringing in a couple of vets. Maybe Atogwe, or Sharper. A safety that can come in and start. After that I see us bringing in a veteran offensive tackle. Maybe wait till cut down day, pick up an aging vet that is blocking a kid on his current team from starting. Doesnt have to be an all pro type either. Just a good, solid vet, that can play swing tackle for us in the event of injury.

I'm quite happy with the draft. Neither are immediate needs, but I think both players will be heavy contributors in 2010 and eventual starters by 2011.

That's more than I can ask.

No more drafting backups or reaching for needs. I've had enough of that.

I'd rather have take the #1 WR and #2 ILB in the board with our picks than the #5 OT

Does seem that we have the house in order. In short, we are drafting for talent, not the immediate needs. Perhaps you can do that when you have a pretty decent team already.

I'd argue nif you didn't have a decent team, that it probably means you have so many needs you can STILL draft bpa since the odds are it will be a need because your team sucks

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Both Bryant and Lee were in the Cowboys top 16 of their draft board. These guys are really talented football players who will help this team win for years.

I agree the choices are also needs I would add. Romo needs playmakers and the defense needs depth & a future ILB. I have said before if James or Brooking go down for a few games playing Barbie would kill the defense.

Your points about reaching is also very good. Reach on a few picks, but make them later and solidify your draft early with sound choices.

Completely agree. 2 READY PLAYERS. What a huge difference between this year and last year's "youth movement" quantity strategy.

We started the week with 6 picks. If we dont make any more trades, we're minus 1 pick (total of 5) but have traded up twice and have drafted a guy rated #8 on their board and another rated as a mid 1st rd pick.

Thats working a draft.

Last year........quantity

This year........quality

Jerry gets an A+ from me, regardless of what we do today.

Stop it, you're making sense again.

Count me as one in the Happy Camper group. I, like many others, grew tired of us drafting Special Teamers. We have drafted two guys so far that will most likely be immediate contributors and starters for years to come. Plus, both are simply football players/playmakers. We have done well thus far. I didn't want to see us draft 10-11 players again this year, only to see 4 or 5 of them not make the roster. We needed quality and we've gotten it. We will fill in holes via free agency. I think that has been the plan all along.

Its been a productive weekend no doubt. Jones and co have done a solid job, and we've upgraded this team not just for this yr but for the future too.

Love what they have done this weekend. Only pick im iffy on is the Sam young pick. But truthfully, down in the 6th round,....you have to do some real digging to find anything anyway.
