Who would you have rather seen starting?

I'm not one of the silly Heath haters on this board.. i respect the effort he gives and his play is solid at times.

For the life of me though, i'm trying to figure out why in the heck Wilcox is not back starting now that he's healthy. He seems to clearly be the better overall safety. He's always around the ball, he's a force against the run, he intimidates receivers with his big hit ability.. i don't get it.

i'll be happy if neither starts next years, debating who's better is pointless when they both suck. They might turn into something downthe road but right now they're backups at best

Heath might be good in a few years, but he has no business being out on the field right now. Experience will help, but he looks the part of a scrub because he is a scrub. Maybe not forever, but for right now.

Truthfully, Heath is the better player of the two. Heath plays with passion and is a heady player who just lacks any ball tracking skills. Wilcox is a bit more opportunistic but really was quite a disappointment this season all in all. I'd keep my eyes out for a prospect that has PLAYED the position in this draft as well.

I think the coaches worry about Wilcox's head. He makes too many dumb plays. Wilcox is definitely more talented. Heath should get better after an off season in an NFL training program. Heath's big problem is he's just a little small to play at the moment.

I think the scheme doesn't do them any good either. Too frequently tonight Heath was being asked to carry a WR or TE down the field. Very few safteys can do that. Players that can do that consistently are usually CBs.

I'm a big fan of Wilcox. He is always looking to lay a big hit on someone and always looking to try to intercept the ball etc. He is just a rookie and has a ways to go but man... Heath just gets clowned every single game he plays. He is horrible. He looks like he is 5'3" out there.

Heath must go, the safety position requires defending passes and he just doesn't have a knack for covering.

Best thing that ever happened to them as players is the fact that will Allen was moved the hell outta their way so they could get this experience. We got younger and hopefully better with both and I'm sure as hell happy they got it if were just gonna waste another year slangin the rock around on offense.

I'll say this. Heath may as well have been wearing a big bullseye this year for opposing QBs. He was that poor. He knew where he was supposed to be on most plays, and that's to his credit, but he just couldn't make a play to save his life. The bright spot for him this year was choosing not to help Kirk Cousins off the ground.

Wilcox, I think he started off okay, but after he got injured he fell off completely. The game was too big for him. Maybe he can develop, as he has much better physical tools than Heath. Either way, if the plan is to retool the defense into cover hybrid ala Seattle, they really, really need better play from that safety spot.

Neither get me a real safety while these guys develop. This is Wilcox 2nd year ever playing safety. He was a WR until his Senior year at Georgia Southern. Make them both back ups and special teams players and get a true FS.

For those of you responding neither.. please go away.

We don't have other options on the team right now.

Wilcox seemed to play well until he got hurt earlier in the year. That's why i'm curious as to why he never got his starting spot back after he returned. Like i said, i like the heart and hustle Heath plays with, but he gets abused in the pass game too often.

yes we do the season is over we can go and get a new safety. We aren't playing another game this season. You asked who would I rather see starting, my answer is neither. Go get me Jarius Byrd.
