I want to win as bad as anyone else, but geeez, "statment game" in Week 2?
Typical overreaction/hype to an early season game. Come on. We got drilled by the Eagles in '92 in an early season battle of unbeatens on MNF and yet we physically dominated the Eagles in the playoffs later that season.

The Giants run last year and the Steelers run a couple of years ago are recent examples (and there are many many more, for example the '71 Cowboys) that point out the fact it's how you finish the season that is most important.

Way too early in the season to be talking about "statement games"...win or lose.

Cincy swept the Steelers that year as well, only for Pitt to return the favor against them in the playoffs.

i was just (unluckily) in philly, and of course, they think they are super bowl bound after smacking the rams. and their rook receiver is the next jerry rice. and their defense is unstoppable. and blah blah blah.

i don't just wanna win this one.....i want to beat them down.

and TO....1-3 vs your old mates? no wins in dallas? is that good enough?

step it up, one and all.

you do that by taking that big overpowering OL and squashing the undersized Philly DL like a grape

The only ? mark on this team is whether they can establish some continuity with their chemistry. Keep that swagger going, and not letting one game - or one play, immediately kill the overall team demeanor. Our guys last year seemed mentally fragile, hopefully additions of Zach and Pacman can add some 'edge' to a defense full of nice guys.

Not really.

It is not the end of the season if we lose this game.

Heck, it won't happen, but I wouldn't even panic if Philly were to blow us out in this game.

The main reasons we need to win this game is because it is a division game and the board may implode if we don't win :p: .

Statistically from a win-loss standpoint losing to the Eagles would not be the end of the season. But beating the Eagles credibly could turn us into a monster, especially against the other NFC competition, like the Giants and possibly pay dividends late in the season and into the playoffs.

To Egirl fans if you didn't get the message that Dallas is the best team in the conference, don't worry it will be delivered on Monday Night.

It's not a must-win, but it's definitely a statement game. I think you need to separate the two.

If somehow the Cowboys blow this game (notice, I didn't say the Eagles win it), they'll recover, still go to win the division and the playoffs. We all know this.

However, this is a legitimate opportunity to squash the confidence of a division team who, after last week, seem to think it's 2002 again. There is indeed no excuse not to win the game at home against a division rival.

Yeah, it's a statement game, come out and smash Philly in the mouth hard, break their will and really get our swagger back. But we all know the real statement game comes against the Giants later in the season.

We do?

All the Cowboys have done recently is stockpile talent. They haven't shown me anything that would make me assume they are going to win the Division.

they did go and win 13 games and win the division last year.....so I guess that shows more then just stockpiling talent......right?

And its hard to argue that this team isnt more talented than last year.

Im not saying winning the division is a given......and winning 13 games again will be difficult because the East division has IMHO 3 very good teams.

But this team will be one of the better teams in the league and a legit contender IMHO.

It could have been 0-4...the win in Philly could have been an abomination on their part. TSHTF with Reid's personal problems, as his sons got caught again, and the fans there grew disinterested in the game as all the headlines were focused on Reid's problems, and not the Cowboys coming to town. Not to mention too he missed practice for the first time in his career.

Not saying we would have lost if this didn't happen, but when you consider...

Wade 0-1 vs Eagles at TX Stadium
Romo 0-2 vs Eagles at TX Stadium, 2 worst games of his career
Owens 0-2 vs Eagles at TX Stadium, 2 of the worst games of his career
Cowboys 2-6 vs Eagles at TX Stadium since '00, losing the last 2

I just want to GET OVER THIS HUMP!:bang2:

The more and more I watch ESPN and NFL Network, and I listen to the analyists take about this game, the better I feel.

Everyone is reviewing the Eagles vs. Rams Game, and it was "Are the Eageles that good or are te Rams that bad". The general conclusion was the Rams are that bad. They pointed out 3 or 4 key plays that the Rams blew that give the Eagles there huge win.

Dallas would have Never made those mistakes, so we will see come Monday!!

I don't want to hear any woulda, shoulda, couldas at the end of Monday night. Elite teams like Dallas are supposed to win tough, divsional games at home, especially early in the season when everyone, for the most part, is healthy.

This is not the week for moral victories or excuses.
I couldn't agree more.

I agree.

Except please lose the "statement game" or the "deliver a message"
Its only game 2. 1st game of 6 division games.

We should be at the "Impose Your Teams Will" against teams by now. Not statement games or delivering messages.

Am I the only one that finds JJT's opinion hackneyed and refurbished? Over the last two years, we have shown the ability to win tough games early in the season only to fade at the end. Therefore, the only improvement this team can make this year is winning games at the end of the season and into the playoffs. I could care less what happens in week 2 at this point (well, I do care, but you get my point)

10-6 and 16-0 get you to the same place... usually. Everyone is fighting for an invitation to the party. It's what you do at the party that matters!!!

The problem is...the Cowboys have been the guy that gets ****faced early, and the rest of the party steals TO's sharpie to draw genitals on his face and shave his eyebrows. :D

I'm sure that won't happen at this year's party though...
