Cowboys don't have running back to match their philosophy

Philosophically, the Dallas Cowboys want to win games with the running game as the epicenter of their offense, which means quarterback Tony Romo doesn’t have to be their savior every week.

They're going to attempt to do it in 2016 with a running back with a history of breaking down, another coming off the worst season of his career and a third who suffered a torn ACL last October and who might not be ready to play when the season begins in September.

This approach makes little sense.

That's the biggest mystery to me. You see the results in 2014 when we had a dominant line/RB working in unison (even with a subpar defense). And here we are, trying to be cute. Again.

Get a RB in here you KNOW will produce and just pray Romo stays healthy. We will win 10 games just with that formula.

Exactly. It's the only thing that has resulted in a winning season under Garrett.

But oh, we don't pay runningbacks because the position isn't worth it.

This is about the dumbest article I've read in a long time.

But, looking at the author, it's no surprise.

Why is it dumb? He's just being honest. We dominated games in 2014 because our run game pounded the other team into the ground. We won most of our games in the 4th quarter because it was THEIR defense that was gassed not ours. Letting go of Murray I agreed with. To expensive. But then to not replace him, that my friend is the definition of arrogance. Trusting Randle to be our starting RB was a huge mistake. We need a bell cow. It's that simple. Jerry has to stop thinking we can mimic successful teams every year and win. We aren't the Patriots. RBBC works for them because they have Brady, a genius head coach, and a dominant defense. They also call plays that benefit their players and play to their strengths. We dont. Just stick with the formula that worked, and see results.

I can see us drafting a RB with one of our 4th rounders. I agree with JJT, no way we go into the season with the current stable of RB's.

Our problem last year was the QB not being available, and not anything to do with the RB position.

Read Sturm's article on the zone vs. man blocking schemes and yards per carry for McFadden and Morris. It's the equivalent of a signed game worn NFL jersey vs. JJT's Chinese knockoff article.
