JJT On Sporting News Radio Today Said It Will Be Norv...

If it's true that Jimmy Johnson said that Norv is a good canadate, then I'll have to go with Jimmy. This is job is for a coach that has nerves of steel and Norv shows that he can keep his cool without blowing up. There's really not a problem with Norv, although he will need a good supporting cast behind him.

Diddnt Jimmy line up Wannstedt as his replacement in Miami? What Jimmy says about this situation is completely and totally meaningless.

Maybe since it's Dallas, Jimmy will let Norv borrow his stones for the season. Nobody had bigger ones than Jimmy!

Everybody is so freaking quick to condemn players and coaches it's incredible!
I'll join the homers out there with optimism because Turner and Garrett are exactly what this offense needs,,, now all Jerry has to do is land a decent defensive coach,,, and Bowles doesn't count.

I don't think most are condemning Norv. There's obviously no way of knowing how he'll perform here. The problem is there are better options for coach.

Amen!

Defense, defense, defense. If Norv, bad D. If Wade, great D. It's axiomatic.

On edit: Oh yeah, I got more to say. I want a great D. I want to pressure the QB. I want to see guys with stars on their helmets hitting the opposing QB and often. That's a big reason I watch football -- to see our guys hit their QBs. I also watch football to see our guys get turnovers. And play aggressive. And force rather than react. This has not happened in at least 7, 8 years. We've been hovering in the 30-35 sack per season range since then. Additionally, I want to see Roy play near the line. I don't care if we get burned often and badly. I want to see him in the backfield, often. And I want to see Ware lining up like Merriman. A lot. I don't want to see him chasing TEs 15 yards downfield. We had a Hall of Fame Jersey Guy in here with experience with this stuff and he couldn't get it done in 4 years. Do you think Tom, Dick, or Harry Bowles is going to after being 3-4 trained by said Jersey Guy?

Norv's a nice guy. Keep him on your Xmas card list. But don't hire him, no, no, no!

I believe that just turning the def. lose and letting them play is a big improvement over the Parcells scheme of no ajustments..

Truer words have never been spoken~

Jason Garrett is the X factor,,, apparently he still needs offensive tutoring and Wade Phillips isn't the guy for that,,, the best option is Norv PLUS a real defensive coodinator OR Wade Phillips plus a real offensive coordinator,,, take your pick!

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, who is a proven head coach out there right now?. If you're talking about Lovie Smith, Bill cowher etc. We can for get those guys because they cost too much.

Just looking at whats going on, Jerry is trying to assemble a similar coaching staff back in the winning days. I'm not saying they are the answer but these guys have worked well with each other in the past and that is one major plus for us.

Will these men be able to weld themselves as a winning unit and work together?. We'll see. The biggest factor for this up coming season is not only who the coach is but also the players that we get through FA & the draft.

while i respect your opinion i dont understand it. norv wherever he's gone has had top offenses. wide open offenses. thats puts emphasis on the OL. isnt that what fans have been screaming about for 10 yrs in dallas? the Ol!. while i know dallas had a offense who got yrds and put up points. they were sort of a miss or hit. they either scored a ton in a game or laid flat. there was no inbetween. one of them consistently inconsistent teams

I would have to agree. I'll add to that as well, Norv Turner didn't get a fair shake in Washington and we all know the circumstance surrounding Oakland...

I was really hoping we were waiting for the Super Bowl to end.

Unfortunately we were just waiting for the Senior Bowl to end.

Oh...my head hurts...

Notice everyone's favorite genius' offense failed to score a single point.

But we need that.

Really.

it's funny, the most level-headed posters, well used to be :) I'm turning chicken little, are against the Norv hiring, everybody else? well...

Why doesn't Bowles count? Who's to say he can't be a successful DC for us? Newman, Ellis, and Fergi spoke highly of him.
