I don't really understand this line of thinking since Jerry has done it both ways. He's hired two successful college coaches (Jimmy and Barry), hot coordinator (Gailey), in-house (Campo), Super Bowl-winning coach (Parcells), hot coordinator (Phillips), up-and-comer (Garrett), Super Bowl-winning coach (McCarthy).

He's tried it multiple ways but had little success beyond Johnson because of the one position that he's only tried one way: GM.
