Joe Frazier dies at 67

One tough SOB.

I still cant believe how Foreman beat him and literally lifted him off the canvas with the punches.

I dont think Frazier and Ali ever squashed their bad blood. Frazier didnt want to.

I did read that they may have gotten closer in recent years.

Foreman caught Joe at the end of his career and after some BRUTAL fights. A TON of punches leading up to the Foreman fight...Would have been nice to see a younger Joe against Foreman but that wasn't how it panned out.

Frazier was the toughest fighter I've ever seen.

Sad day...

I've read quite a bit about Ali and IMO, it's not too hard to like a lot of boxers over Ali. And when you consider Ali's universal appeal, it will make you like Ali less and less.

But, this is about Joe Frazier. He represented boxing and what boxers should achieve to be like. RIP Joe, you will be sorely missed.

And Ali didn't  What is with trashing Ali, he was what he was and he was great at it. Frazier was who he was and he was great at it as well. Why trash one man for another. Not really necessary in this situation.

RIP Smokin' Joe. I enjoyed watching you fight. I really miss what was a golden age of boxing.

I had heard (this is in reference to a comment made a few posts up) that Joe and Ali had long ago squashed their bad blood.

I could have heard that wrong though.

If you remember Ali/Frazier, you were lucky enough to be around when pro boxing was a huge deal.
The fights were on network TV, usually Saturday nights, and it was electric. Felt like the whole country was tuned in.
