Browns have Deshaun Watson who sucks, Dilion Gabriel who sucks, Shedeur Sanders who sucks....Taylen Green who may or may not suck.....and they said no thanks. Dolphins said no thanks. Beating up on a bad Cardinals preseason squad didn't prove he can play to teams. Just what it is.

They knew they had a chance to get him back because nobody wanted him. They got no offers for him. He had a good game against the Bills and we got him for a 5th. It tells you all you need to know. Don't be delusional.

A team typically carries multiple WRs in any given game, all of whom can see the field... a 3rd-string QB will likely only see playing time due to a major injury to QB1. ie. You cannot compare the 2 positions

What Rambo is saying is that getting cut then resigned is routine procedure. Cutting cut for the 1st 53 doesn't mean The End....as many seemed hopeful for for milton.

Really, he played last year and the year before that. He certainly is better now than he was then. He almost won the number 2 spot this year and he was on the original 53.
They took calls on him and protected him while teams filled their rosters. They knew who was interested and then once those teams filled up their rosters they released him to get the running back that they claimed with the educated hope that they could get Milton back.

The bottom line is that they knew they had a good chance of getting him back and held that spot for him.

Don't understand where you are getting this speculation. They kept him on their 53. When they claimed a player off waivers, they had to cut someone on the 53 and it was him. I don't know how that equates to they protected him. Now, maybe they chose to cut him instead of someone else because they thought they could get him back, but I don't think signing him to the original 53 was protecting him as much as he was they didn't have anyone they cut that they wanted more than him.

It wasn't like they waited longer to claim a player because they wanted to protect Milton. They put in a claim and when it was awarded, he was the cut.

Doesn't matter if he can play or not. That's what you don't get. Everyone can play. These are all players who were great in college. Its what you do at practice, what you do in the games....even getting the shot to do it in games....Flournoy wasn't anything until he got into a game and showed he can do. Its why he cleared waivers and no one touched him. No one cared about what he did in preseason games or practice. He got called upon and he showed what he could do.

MIlton has already showed what he could do against a bad Buffalo team two years ago and played well and got traded for a 5th rounder. Now he's been cut and cleared waivers and no oone wanted him.

You should read more. I was comparing the careers opportunities of both Rush and Milton. You need the right situation to develop. They let Rush develop and he is a serviceable back up that probably will start in Atlanta due to various issues with Tua and Penix. You need 3 QBs and Milton should have been kept on the roster with that talent.

The cowboys gave up a draft pick for him so I’m sure they’re hoping for a return on their investment for very cheap. Putting him on the PS didn’t necessarily prove they are very confident.

Interestingly, Dallas used the acquired No. 217 pick on UCLA DT Jay Toia. So the practical exchange became Jay Toia + Joe Milton for the No. 171 pick.

I have to disagree with you. I like Rush but he is not ever going to be a starter or a quality backup in the NFL. He may get an opportunity to start, but that is more because of the situation in Atlanta. He’s third string now for a reason.
