Joe Milton has 'lottery odds' to become an NFL star

I've seen guys with lottery odds become NFL stars, and I've seen guys with all the tools in the toolbox, and a great head become flops after 2 seasons, so there's that
You never know what the correct coaching, and the correct system can produce

The reason we don't talk probably has something to do with your perspective,

you think those are books, 3 very short I would even call them full paragraphs, and you don't have the ability to read it I'd say you better get a different prescription for your ADHD if you can't focus for that long those little bitty characters, I feel for you, seek help...
Awesome, now this I can read!

Totally agree…he’s another athlete that coaches thought they could make a QB. When teams trade QB’s on rookie deals, it’s a good indication they’re not NFL caliber players.

Hopefully we draft a guy and he takes the back-up spot. Milton is good as a project #3 guy. But I’m pretty sure Milton chose Dallas because he expected to be the #2.

Not sure why re-signing Rush was a problem. He didn’t get a huge contract and he’s honestly earned it with his play. He was sorta the perfect back-up for a fragile player (mentally and physically) like Dak.
Very good indication.

Since Rush is strictly a backup and we don't have the team to make noise in the playoffs anyway, I thought it was wise to go w/ a youngster who might have some upside. No, Milton would not have been my choice, but I do consider it wise to go w/ a youngster w/ possible upside.

So Sam Darnold is not a better QB than he was when he entered the league? Or Baker Mayfield? Or Geno Smith?

Smith may be a good comparison. Throughout his years with the Jets, he never completed more than 59.4 percent of his passes. That was his best year, other than a year when he only threw 42 passes. His low as a starter was 55.8 percent.

Smith was just traded to the Raiders this year after five years in Seattle where his worst completion percentage was 64.7 percent.

His two years starting in New York, he threw either more or as many interceptions at TDs. In Seattle, he didn't come close to doing the same despite throwing more passes each year.

Now, it took Smith years to get there. Same with Darnold. Same with Mayfield.

Unlike you, I believe that players can improve from what they showed in college or even as a rookie.
Weird response. The personal thingie would've been better left out to avoid the betrayal of credence.

Jerry screwed up by not allowing MM to play Trey Lance.
They feared him as fans did, he would eventually out play Dak.
Now fans like you will fear Milton. So need to not like him.

Did not take you long to start in on him.
I swear, you guys have the strangest conclusions.

Only in our own heads. :lmao:

No, just trying to have some fun with it. Because of fans and posts are just entertaining as to the likes and dislikes of players, coaches, FO. Especially before we see anything on the field.

Ok, now that's funny!!! Good stuff!!!!

Carter wasn't smoking weed. More like crack. For two years, Bill Parcels laid out little hints with words like "moxie." No one wanted to believe it at the time, but I argued back then, when most fans thought nothing of Romo, that he was at least our future starter.

I was a Carter supporter, but he wasn't getting it done. The debate later turned to Henson taking over. I could clearly see that wasn't going to happen.

Anyway, Romo was always gonna be the man...but few in the fan base knew it.
The point is even a top QB like Romo needed time to develop. You can't assume Milton will never make it as QB in the NFL after only his first year.

I agree. That’s why I feel that who’s coaching him is so important.
It could be a problem with New England, I mean they seem to be causing their own quarterback controversies over there by getting two guys in the same time frame and sometimes in the same drafts, and that's what I'm hearing might have happened..

they seen some fans really liking Milton and they're afraid of a quarterback controversy in a locker room split, I'm not saying this is true we've heard that kind of stuff around here too.

they get Garoppolo / Brissett with an unhappy Brady and then they get zappy and Mac Jones and then they get and I believe it's the same draft Milton and Drake Maye...

Rush is gone because we couldn’t afford to keep him.

Too many people are all or nothing with no room for middle ground.

The reality is most QB’s that start for good college programs were good. The question is will they be good NFL QB’s. A quick search will give you an idea of what the scouting reports said. We want to talk about Milton’s scouting report but ignore others who didn’t have the best reports but ended up developing into good pro’s. And that includes the scouting report for the GOAT. Hindsight is 20/20 if we get to evaluate players after the fact.

Dallas isn’t going anywhere this year even if we stay healthy. Taking a swing on a QB with upside potential that only requires moving back 40ish spots late in the draft is a worthwhile gamble IMO.

The personal thingie does not change the evidence. You can choose to focus on that if you wish to avoid the evidence.

Your comment was indicative of not believing players can change. I gave examples of QBs who have improved their decision-making over time.

Or the opposite. I don't know why it seems necessary for fans to draw conclusions about the player in the first few days after we got him.

Here's a good example of that:

Weaknesses

  • Has struggled with his decision-making and needs to improve his pre-snap recognition skills to read defenses and see blitzes. Doesn't decipher information as quickly as you would like, but does see the entire field and understands coverage.
  • Needs to improve his touch at all levels and know when to gun it and when to take something off his throws. Accuracy is solid, but far from great with streaky ball placement downfield as he tries to thread the needle too much.
  • Too often fails to give receivers a chance to make a play after the catch. High completion percentage padded by many quick screens.
  • Sails throws to either sideline; receivers make him look good with acrobatic catches. Back-foot throws are not accurate. Sometimes trusts his arm too much, trying to stick passes late in the play or when off-balance.
  • Marginal height, which will prove more of a detriment in an offense that asks him to drop back from center more often.

Can you guess who's weaknesses this is?
