I am SOOOOO glad we got Zack Martin and passed on Johnny Meball.

=========

Johnny Manziel was recently seen golfing at a Shreveport, Louisiana, course with his father, which led some to believe that his time in rehabilitation was over. But according to The Plain Dealer, heremains in treatment.

When he does eventually return to the field, though, he'll have more than a new playbook to worry about.

In an interview with ESPN Cleveland,Cleveland Browns offensive tackle and team captain Joe Thomas said Manziel needs to earn back some trust. In a tumultuous first season, it was something that escaped him quickly.

I was a guy full entrench in the Manziel corner so I can't be glad I was wrong but I'm sure glad Jerry was right.

I don't think Jerry deserves credit for this one, seems like for the first two months of the season every time a microphone was put in front of his face he was lamenting the pick, fuel for Martin, so I won't complain.

Browns were stupid to have taken him in the first place. The crap he pulled in college wasn't going to cut it in the NFL.

We all know when it's all said and done Jerry is the trigger puller of everything while he had to be swayed to taking a non-sexy pick he still made the pick.

I said all along I wanted no part of the Johnny Football circus in Dallas and I have yet to see anything to change my mind.

I know there are a lot of folks in here who wanted him but by now even they have to admit we did the right thing by passing on him.

He was a fun fun guy to watch in college.

It's up to him now to get it together or continue to go down in flames.

I would not have minded the pick with Dallas because I think Dallas would have put things in place to help him. His biggest problem is himself, similar to how Dez used to be. The Browns really did him a disservice by basically doing nothing to protect and grow him. I think the story would have been different in Dallas as the Cowboys have a support system in place for players like him.

He gets the blame when a pick doesn't work out, just like if Martin got hurt and didn't play well, people would be yelling at what an idiot the Cowboys were for not taking Manziel.

So he gets credit when he lets judgment be the better part of valor and not selecting him and having Martin work out.

You said you were smiling that we passed on Johnny FB and that Martin would be a pro Bowl OG.
Nice.

If you're wondering how I know this......It got so ugly about this time last year that I started keeping track. lol
I know it's a bit over the top, but the hate for Romo was so strong from some and love for Manziel so preposterous, I thought I'd take note and bookmark a couple of threads. I just got really tired of it at some point.

It would have been a horrible pick for Dallas. The offensive line would not have been as good and Dallas would have a 1st round QB back up who didn't study the play book or work hard enough. It wouldn't have helped Dallas last year or for the long term.

Nope, when you talk for months on end with regret credit is lost, you can try and change that but the truth is the truth. He was very wrong over this.

I wouldn't put Dez issues in the same category as Manziel's. Dez had accountability issues, but football mattered to him. It was important.

Johnny Manziel has never showed the same amount of caring and intensity for the game since he's been in the NFL

he never had the talent Dez did; and football was always first for Dez. JF was all about promoting JF. Sad you could not see that.

No...he wasn't wrong when he made the choice and it worked out.

Sorry.

Passing on Johnny finally showed me that someone(mcclay, Stephen, or whoever) is finally making rational decisions

Agreed.

More than that, Manziel had a support system his entire life. Look where it got him.
