Always thought he was too small, football looks like a beachball in his hands. Then a season ending injury on a pretty normal hit. That college style was never going to translate to the nfl

Not really a Manziel fan, but he doesn't have small hands if that's what you're saying.

Sorry for what? Understanding the situation wrong?

Sorry that you refuse to give Jerry any credit because of your obsessive hatred of him. He deserves credit for not drafting Manziel just like he deserves credit when he makes a horrible decision. That's kind of how the world works.

You either have me confused with someone else or you are just making things up, either way, it's pretty strange as I have nothing against Jones.

You are jumping to defend a guy that came out and said "I'm still so damn mad at Stephen," Jones exclaimed. "... I get madder, every day, about missin' (Manziel)." I didn't make that up, all he could do was talk about him for months, he may have given Stephen the OK, but "Jerrys pick" is really pushing it.

I actually think the two guys fighting the most against taking Manziel were Jason Garrett and Will McClay.
Stephen and the scouts were next...maybe slightly against it but not dead set against him
Then last, by far, was Jerry....who actually wanted him.

It worked out great for us, nevertheless. I was thrilled we didn't blow a 1st rounder there.
But the irony is that I actually don't think he will have a terrible career. Eventually, I think he'll be ok and maybe even a regular starter.

Some of you guys wanted this clown over Romo. You should punch yourself in the face a few times

Did they want him over Romo or did they want him to eventually replace Romo?

I have to admit, I kinda wanted the Cowboys to take Johnny Football, but not over Romo. Manziel has much to learn about professional football. I would have rather that he sat for about two to three years behind Romo to learn the position. But he wasn't really a good fit for the Cowboys or Romo - based on our current structure and prominence. It would have been like Tebow (whom I like). Those who dislike Romo would have been clamoring for Johnny as soon as Romo stumbled, which he didn't this year.
Johnny needed to go somewhere like Denver or New England or Green Bay where you have an established veteran who is liked by the general fandom and where he (Manziel) could actually learn the game for a few years touting the clip board.

No, MANY wanted him OVER Romo.
Not even debatable. Go back and look at some of those old threads.

Now there were a few (like you) that just wanted him to learn under Romo and then replace him, but that was just a few compared to the others.

It's in the past now though. Although I know who those people are, its old news, we're all Cowboy fans, and it's time to move on. it just provides context when those people start discussing the topic of Romo and/or QBs in general. It helps know where they stand because the cards were shown.

Fair enough. I guess I don't remember that. I don't doubt it, which is why I asked the question.

.

They would have been clamoring for Manziel after the opening game loss to the 49ers when Romo did stumble. I didn't read many threads that particular week as it was very busy for me, but I imagine at least a few people were mad Manziel wasn't on the team at the time.

I am SOOOOO glad we got Zack Martin and passed on Johnny Meball.

=========

Johnny Manziel was recently seen golfing at a Shreveport, Louisiana, course with his father, which led some to believe that his time in rehabilitation was over. But according to The Plain Dealer, heremains in treatment.

When he does eventually return to the field, though, he'll have more than a new playbook to worry about.

In an interview with ESPN Cleveland,Cleveland Browns offensive tackle and team captain Joe Thomas said Manziel needs to earn back some trust. In a tumultuous first season, it was something that escaped him quickly.

I don't see a Robert Downey jr comeback in his future.

He's done before he got started.

A statue needs to be erected in Stephen Jones honor for this.

I honestly think Stephen, in his own thoughts, is enjoying the legacy he is creating by simply controlling, and not being, his dad. LOL

I feel weird even taking credit for getting this right. What part of Manziel's game made people think he's an NFL quarterback. He's too small, he throws sidearmed, and the heave-it-up-for-Evans nonsense doesn't work against NFL corners. Just another of many good college QBs not built for the NFL.

But Jerry and Deion sure loved him. LOL

"JM will be a bust"...those were your words.

fwiw, I actually think he may be around the league for many years and may even start and be mediocre at some point. That's a player you take in the 4th round.

Even in that unlikely scenario, it still qualifies as a bust.

Injury will give him his out. "I would have had a great career, but I couldn't stay healthy."

The guy is (1) dumb as a rock, (2) disinterested in putting in the time to even try to learn the NFL game, (3) far too small, (4) highly inaccurate, and (5) lacks the humility to go about it the right way.

Johnny Manziel is still a young man. He will get his far chance to prove he is all that he was advertised to be.
