What’s #48 doing on this play? He comes flying across the field and takes out a blocker instead of the ball carrier. Was he mistaken about who had the ball? Or was he out of control and thus unable to redirect himself to Odell? Or is it sound football to eliminate a blocker to make his teammates’ job easier?

Boneheaded mental error, undisciplined physical error, or good team play that his teammates couldn’t take advantage of?

Kind of seems like Lewis also was dead set on knocking the blocker out of bounds. Was it the Browns’ brown jerseys that made it hard to tell who had the pigskin?

He appeared to think that player had the ball.

Jaylon was then staring directly at Thomas and also thought Thomas was tackling the ball carrier.

He looked as if he thought that guy had the ball. Everyone screwed up. Jaylon could have been over in the mix but stood there then chance him down at the end.

Even Joe Thomas has embraced the Hotboyz lyfe and has dropped his football iq to his jersey number.

Undisciplined
Poor technique
Poorly coached
Lost
Confused
Slow

Take your pick.

You can watch that play 11 times and focus on a different def player each time and just shake your head at the total incompetence of almost the entire unit on that play.
Especially since both linebackers looked like they were going to run blitz on the right side when there was no RB in the backfield.

LOL, agree each time just pick out a different player and watch what they did. My old high school coach (rest his soul) would have had a heart attack after that play. He was old school Vince Lombardi.

Just watch Smith from beginning to end. He is just floating around away from the trouble and then at the last second tries to run in the field with OBJ!! That was a piss poor effort by a pansy who doesnt want to engage. He had plenty of opportunity to fly headfirst in there but he tippy toed around doing nothing . I cant stand ballerinas on a football team. Get him out!! Jus watch and focus on what he does ....NOTHING

I'd say run that play over and over in the film session.....effort and disciplined questioned.....but you have to look at the DC too. That was completely pathetic......from players and coaches to be indicted on.

I saw it during the play. He stood there and waited for some one else to tackle him. I saw Aldon almost get a paw on him and forces him out wider and most teams would have been driving towards him and had him for a loss or out of bounds. But they all just stood there and let him weave through. I am not sure he was touched till the end. I can’t understand what’s happening. Is this scheme that tough or do the players not want him there and are pulling a wade phillips on him.

I don't give Nolan blame for this debacle at all. These players are just bad. And if they are sabotaging who cares this staff will be addressing at least half of the defense come the offseason.
