Ok, as some of you may know, im a die hard Cowboys fan since 1966. I have seen players play, some good and some players bad through the draft. so read my thoughts on the drafts, the videos, knock it around, give your thoughts
3rd round 69 Jason Williams On our 1st pick in the 3rd round, we took Jason Williams; A very good linebacker, in some aspects Jason reminds me of a young Darren Woodson. Now folks, this guy played strong safety at college, ran a 4.49 in the 40. He has a hand slap after he tackles the runner, similar to the way lawrence taylor and others would reach in and slap the football with the other hand. Jason caused 14 fumbles in his career. Thats right 14! Not only that, he has ran a 4.44 too in one of his workouts. Jason has a 39 inch vertical leap, plus he bench pressed 225 pounds 26 times, very good for a junior. Like Hostile I feel that if this player had stayed one more year in college and pro teams got video of him, he would have been a number one draft pick. In some aspects he is very similar to Pactrick Willis, but not the hype. They are both about the same size, 6-1 1/4 at 245 or so. Pactrick runs the 40 in 4.42 and you all have seen what this guy can do on defense. Jason will be used at special teams and in the position to take over in coverage where Kevin Burnett was used. Jason also reminds me of a young Thomas Henderson without all of teh drama. whereas thomas henderson had tremendous speed and play making ability, but character issues; Jason has good character issues and he is a team player. This is what this draft is all about, character and football players. Jason just needs to learn how to convert his stength to the field while playing with power. Almost all of the players in this draft for the Cowboys have great character and no red flags except one player. So, all in all this draft was used to churn the bottom of the roster and push players. Its like Stephen Jones said, and you can see a little of bill parcells thinking here, where parcells said, always churn the bottom of the roster. At the same time, the cowboys went out and got players suited for special teams and love playing special teams. Because remember what keith davis said about special teams last year? Its all about attitude and desire, want too, that you have to convince players to want to play with heart and fire. Some of the players as you all know werent playing with fire last year on special teams. http://www.dallascowboys.com/multimedia/multimedia_center.cfm

Most of jason williams how he matured is some trajedy in his life;
He was an 8th-grader, a Chicago-area Pop Warner football star with NFL aspirations and a kid who looked up to his father and older brother more than anything. Within a seventh-month period, both of his role models were gone.
Kenon Williams, 28, was arrested in October 1999 and still is incarcerated in downstate Robinson. Jason Williams, who declined to discuss the details of his brother's arrest, said Kenon "got involved with the wrong crowd."
His father, Connell, died in a May 2000 fire.
"Reality just hit me," Jason Williams said. "Losing the two male figures back to back, it was pretty rough on me. When I look at my brother's situation, I guess it shows me the way my life could have gone."
We lost 2 critical games last year due to special teams blunders and the cowboys are thinking if they had won 1 or 2 of those games last year on special teams, they would have been in the playoffs. Arizona game, punt blocked and mcbrair hurt. Pittsburgh game, we had the game won, but the punter punted a poor ball and the steelers returned the punt to field goal range and get back in the game. The atmosphere of that game changed right there, along with Holland getting hurt. That leads me to the next draft choice.
3rd round 75 Robert Brewster OG OT Now this is the pick that I am hoping that the Cowboys plans are to groom him to either take over for Kosier in 2 years or so, or push Proctor off of the team. I dont love Proctor. He mostly played OT in college, in fact he weighed 360 pounds, but followed a strict diet and got down to 325. He is very long armed, and here is a video of him.
http://draftguys.com/index.php/articles/liveblog_cat/C13
He has very good feet and can slide. Robert also wears glasses, since he is afraid to wear contacts. His sweetheart died after giving birth to his son. So, in reality he grew up with that responsibility by himself. Was greatly known for pass blocking, and opening run plays for touchdowns near the goalline. Is more athletic than powerful in the lower legs and hips. As most of you are aware, it takes offensive linemen 2 to 3 years to get their functional strength, so he needs work in that area. So, a very decent offensive linemen that moved up during draft time, that excels at pass blocking in the style Ball State used. Had a knee injury his senior year, but played better his junior year.
4th round 101 Stephen McGee; A very tough player, reminds me of a Jim McMahon, in that he will fight you tooth and nail. However the draw back is that he tends to get injury prone, and not thrown in a pro style offense. Stepnen as most of you know has beaten Texas Longhorns in 2 big games, so he is tough, and threw for over 250 yards in one of those games, so he can throw. Very athletic, or like jerry jones said, stephen is alittle 9ish, ala romo, he can throw on the run and kill you like romo does somewhat. Mcgee will be brought along slowly to be groomed behind romo, while learning from Kitna and wade wilson QBs coach. Just watch this tape. I think he can be a very servicable qb to back up romo after Kitna retires. Has run anywhere from 4.66 to 4.63 in 40.

4th Victor Butler 110, now this is where i said, in my mock drafts that the cowboys would draft 11 to 13 players, some of you laughed at me on that. To me though hearing what stephen jones say, that the cowboys didnt want to compete against other teams in free agency undrafted players due to bigger signing bonuses etc, but load up in lower rounds to get the players that they thoought would be undrafted players such as Manuel Johnson;
The cowboys got this pick due to a trade down. I dont know awhole lot about this player, except from what I read, so i will give Hostile the due credit for talking about the player, since he watched him play. However I do know that he has a non stop motor, and if you listened to jerry jones, before the draft, he implied, the cowboys wanted to get players with non stop motors with high character that love the game. This is what this player is, in fact, right before the cowboys picked him, Butler was going to go run the mountain, to keep in shape. Now that is dedication right there. Butler has very long arms to reach and tackle and push offensive linemen off of him. has a burst to close, so i see butler competing at strong side linebacker and pushing spencer. Thats the key to this whole draft, stephen jones said that some veterans had gotten complacent, and the cowboys want to push those players, possibly even replacing them when their big contract comes up. Another thing to keep in mind is what wade phillips said (I am like Hostile with my thinking on wade in that wade isnt a great head coach, but wade is a very good defensive coordinator) Wade said that he wanted to use these players like butler and brandon to play certain defenses, and catch teams off guard, while at same time, create more heat on the QB, and create more turnovers. Thats what you do with players like butler and brandon williams that play with heart and love of special teams. LIke Hostile said he tends to get wide sometimes and bite, while he needs to get stronger too. Scouting Reports
The Good: Displays an explosive first step off the snap and possesses the pass-rush ability to consistently reach the quarterback. Showcases good footwork and body control off the edge and exhibits the flexibility to dip under tackles. Redirects well in space and has great closing speed for the position. Has a motor that runs nonstop and plays with natural leverage. Does a great job fighting through blockers and working hard in pursuit.
The Bad: Is a DE/OLB tweener who played mostly with his hand on the ground at Oregon State. Will need to make the transition to OLB in the 3-4 and rush from a two-point stance. Struggled learning the nuances of the position at the East-West Shrine Game as an OLB in a 4-3.
Scouting report provided by National Football Post.

4th 120 Brandon Williams, Now this kid can play
Very young player, wth room to grow and improve in strength and speed. Has a very superior first step that the cowboys saw. In fact, best i remember the cowboys had him in for a visit, but dont quote me on that, This is where wade said that looking at some of these linebackers, you can see if they can play outside linebacker. LIke Hostile said i feel that brandon will push spencer, but more than that, at times, they can get brandon on the field, and possibly give ware a rest here and there. Im not saying alot just a few key plays here and there, if they like what they see in practice and training camp. Brandon as most of you might now by now, he cut himself, and couldnt push off when running, but in pro day, ran a 4.78. So, he can play, and like Hostile said I have seen him play all over the field, this is what i envision the cowboys using him, playing him all over the field. Brandon needs to get power in strength, in weight room etc, but that will come in time, especially since he is only 20 years old. Brandon Williams reminds me of a young Tony Tolbert, who was drafted as a linebacker from texas elpaso. Tolbert took 2 years to grow into the de position. I see the reverse brandon taking a year to grow in strength and speed to outside linebacker.

5th 143, DeAngelo Smith Reports are that Smith will be moved to Safety. This kid is the nephew of Pepper Johnson who played for the giants, and now is coaching the patriots defensive line. Returned kickoffs for a 24.7 average, while returning punts for a 9.5 average. Very good short area quickness and zone instints, something that the cowboys when they go from man to man defense, they can use smith and mickens in zone. Both players whom the cowboys got set records in interceptions at Cincinnnati.
http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=207187&cl=12936321&ch=396341&src=sports
right off the bat in the video you see micken and smith sitting together on the bench, then watch smith jump routes, very instinctive player, not great speed, but can play the game.
5th 166 Michael Hamlin, very superior run supporter, and team leader. On and off the field, Again, this is what the team went for, with players like Ken Hamlin and Pat Watkins, whom i think the later is who Michael Hamlin will replace, to save cap money. hamlin doesnt have great speed, as a safety, in fact just alittle slower than roy williams, but hamlin is alittle better in coverage than roy williams was. Which something that we all remember Roy ?Williams Safety could track the football on long deep balls mostly, Hamlin can do that. So, add in the fact, he is a force in runs, he will push pat watkins and courtney brown, just like deangelo smith will push courtney, because we all remember brown wouldnt come up in the hole to force runs or stop them. We got killed a bunch of times because the safety wouldnt come up in the hole and hit. Hamlin does that. Watch the video on the deep ball,something the safety must do.

5th David Buehler K, now this is where i disagree with Hostile, this kid will hit you, At 6-2 227, he ran a 4.55 in 40, even some teams wanted him to tryout also at fullback and linebacker. Now sure if he has the skills or size for linebacker or fullback, but Buehler will be used mostly on kickoffs, and the cowboys do tend to take 2 kickers to games. Buehler will be used to kickoff, something he excelled at in college. Buehler has bloodlines in the nfl, his father played in track at usc, his uncle played in pro football, OG for raiders. I remember his father, he was fair, not superior, but he would knock your head off if he could. Was recruited as a safety, and as most of you know buehler, out pressed 3 of the top elite offensive linemen that went in the draft, and not only that, buehler out benched 27 offensive linemen in the draft 23. Buehler also outdid some linebackers in the bench press too, while showing exceptional skills in linebacker drills. Again, this is a team player that plays on special teams, and can help. You all remember how we got killed by folk kicking off, some were returned for touchdowns. How many times also when the cowboys tried to pin teams near the sideline and folk kicked the ball out of bounds 5 times. Thats 5 times folks. When teams were averaging 29.4 on kickoffs against us, we needed asuperior kickoff specialist. And yes, jerry jones and wade said they planned to keep 2 kickers. Buehler will also most likely play on punt returns to tackle. read this below;
http://usc.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=656245
Junior David Buehler has bounced around from kicker to safety to fullback and now back to kicker. In 2007 he is slated to be the fulltime kickoff specialist and place kicker for the Trojans.
In this video interview USCFootball.com publisher Ryan Abraham talks to Buehler about his powerful leg and what he expects this season from the kicking game.
http://usc.fandome.com/video/102965/David-Buehler-Micd-Up/
6th Stephen Hodge 197
This is the only player with the red flag, arrested in april 2007 discharging a firearm etc with one of his buddies. Yet, this kid will be a monster at special teams. In an interview with ktbb david smoak, hodge said that the cowboys will try him at outside linebacker some, but moreso on special teams. He is just right at 6 foot, or 5-11 5/8, and about 234. Hodge reminds me of bill bates, a player that was too slow at safety, and too small at linebacker. Hodge has an uncanny knack for timing the blitz, while playing hard in run support and a demon on special teams, he attacks players on special teams with intent to bury the player. Just like bill bates did. again hodge is too slow for safety and too small at linebacker, but can in certain situations, after getting defense down, play in certain cover packages and he can play that linebacker on those type of plays.

6th John Phillips 208
Is a very steady TE and decent blocker, in fact, John Garrett coached him, so he knows about him. Again, a team leader, and was team captain. Not a great receiving TE, but can block. Has very long arms and can bulk up to 270, without losing what speed he has. Will be the backup Te, and hellp out on special teams. Either he makes the teams, or helps push rodney hannah to excel and improve. I am still high on rodney hannah. Watch him on video he can get open 15 yard range.

7th Mike Mickens 227, this was the steal of the draft. A very good corner, he fell due to a knee injury. After cleaning out cartiladge, he is still recovering somewhat, but expected to be ready for OTAs and training camp. I cant think oof the former general managers name, but he built the Commanders, then the texans a couple of years ago. Casserly I think, but dont quote me on that. He said he talked to a lot of teams, and he asked them, after the top 5 corners in the game in the upcoming draft, what is the next corner in the draft. Casserly said, more teams then enough said Mickens. As most of you know, he is from Cincinnati and teamed with deangelo smith to have one of themost feared cbs tandems in college league. Has very quick feet and change of direction. Has second gear to close and very good in man or zone. Now, along with Hostile, whom knows football inside and out, better than me, this is the steal if the knee gets fully healthy and mickens is ready to go. In fact, I think this is where the cowboys really helped themselves and you can quote me on this. Best I remember Newman has like 3-4 years left and he wont see the last year of his contract because it is huge. This is where stephen jones said the cowboys drafted in lower rounds to get sleepers and push players, in fact stephen said that these players will take over so when the older veterans are up for a big huge contract, this player Mikens can take over for newman, or whatever position he will take over. This is a huge move, as you know teams now are spreading you out with 3-4 wr sets. After newman you have young Mike Jenkins and Scandrick, not much after that besides ball. Now you have a young Mikens that can take over in 2-3 years, and you wont have to pay that huge money to newman, since newman is already 31. The way this guy moves, and intercepts and returns the ball reminds me of a ed reed with his moves.
Super super move; watch the video below at the end look where they had him projected to go, before he had injured knee and didnt run well at combine and watch him get chewed out by his coach at the start, and then run by pepole on the interceptions, explosive speed, jumps out at you;

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=207187&cl=12936535&ch=396341&src=sports
7th 229 Manuel Johnson, Again this move was to get a wr, that the cowboys thought might be a undrafted player due to his badly injured elbow. He isnt very big or super fast, but has extreme quickness somewhat, kinda like wes welker from what i heard. Deceptely quick and has run a 4.49 in 40. Plays hurt, and i see him pushing crayton or hurd in 2 years for sure, if not this year. Again, the cowboys passed on quan cosby as you all know, so time will tell. Johnson is younger than cosby, so has alittle more upside so to speak. Had a very good junior year, but tailed off his senior year. I think it was due to the injured elbow, his being small and very fast or powerful. Suffered a consussion in 2008 too, so i think he was hurt too much. So, thats the negative since he isnt very big;

3rd round 69 Jason Williams On our 1st pick in the 3rd round, we took Jason Williams; A very good linebacker, in some aspects Jason reminds me of a young Darren Woodson. Buehler will be used to kickoff, something he excelled at in college. Buehler has bloodlines in the nfl, his father played in track at usc, his uncle played in pro football, OG for raiders. I remember his father, he was fair, not superior, but he would knock your head off if he could. Was recruited as a safety, and as most of you know buehler, out pressed 3 of the top elite offensive linemen that went in the draft, and not only that, buehler out benched 27 offensive linemen in the draft 23. Buehler also outdid some linebackers in the bench press too, while showing exceptional skills in linebacker drills. Again, this is a team player that plays on special teams, and can help. You all remember how we got killed by folk kicking off, some were returned for touchdowns. How many times also when the cowboys tried to pin teams near the sideline and folk kicked the ball out of bounds 5 times. Thats 5 times folks. When teams were averaging 29.4 on kickoffs against us, we needed asuperior kickoff specialist. And yes, jerry jones and wade said they planned to keep 2 kickers. Buehler will also most likely play on punt returns to tackle. read this below;

Super super move; watch the video below at the end look where they had him projected to go, before he had injured knee and didnt run well at combine and watch him get chewed out by his coach at the start, and then run by pepole on the interceptions, explosive speed, jumps out at you;

7th 229 Manuel Johnson, Again this move was to get a wr, that the cowboys thought might be a undrafted player due to his badly injured elbow. He isnt very big or super fast, but has extreme quickness somewhat, kinda like wes welker from what i heard. Deceptely quick and has run a 4.49 in 40. Plays hurt, and i see him pushing crayton or hurd in 2 years for sure, if not this year. Again, the cowboys passed on quan cosby as you all know, so time will tell. Johnson is younger than cosby, so has alittle more upside so to speak. Had a very good junior year, but tailed off his senior year. I think it was due to the injured elbow, his being small and very fast or powerful. Suffered a consussion in 2008 too, so i think he was hurt too much. So, thats the negative since he isnt very big;
