Joey Bosa might not be the top-10 NFL Draft pick he's been made out to be

If one wants a lineman who has punch, from a lineman Michigan, and you know what you get...trading down and picking an extra pick for a DT and CB...take Conklin, RT - Michigan. He is every bit the real deal for an OL and the offensive line would be set for at least five years. They all could grow truely great together then.

One of the top two QB's will be very hard to pass up...but...

I really wanted to like Joey Bosa's film more than I actually did. I think that's mostly because the guy has such great technique for a college defensive lineman, and y'all know I'm a sucker for a defensive lineman with good technique.

Bosa does a great job of coming off the ball and getting his hands inside on blockers against the run so that he can control them. He also almost always uses an escape move to get off blocks. His footwork and hand coordination on pass-rush moves are consistent and textbook almost all of the time. I'm telling you, it's almost like the dude is a machine!

the comparisons we are hearing now are Greg Ellis. Good technical DL with limited burst/quickness who will get you 6-8 sacks a year but be stout against run. If Dallas traded back and Bossa still there then it would be good but #4 is too early.

Gimme Carl Nassib in the 2nd over Bosa at #4!

I'll take both and cackle like Mr. Burns while rubbing my hands together on Sundays.

He is one of those guys that if you watch one game (like he played against my WVU Mountaineers) and he looked all world.

You watch some other tapes and he looked just average at best.

For a man his size one would think he would dominate his opponents on a regular basis but he does not.

I think that is why some question his desire and if he takes plays off.

Though I don't always get to watch every game and am certainly no scout professional or armchair, I am a Baylor fan. Oakman showed some flashes 2 years ago, but there was some talk among Baylor fans that he was essentially protecting himself this last year and not going all out. This doesn't really speak well to his competitive drive. One of the other problems is that while I love that Briles has turned the Bears completely around, he is a "players coach" and isn't real focused on a disciplined team. It's part of the reason Baylor is typically one of the more penalized teams albeit exciting. I don't think Oakman was pushed enough and his success at the next level is likely going to come down to the coaching staff and players around him. He needs someone who can press the right buttons and motivate him.

Billings on the other hand is someone I absolutely would love to somehow fall into our lap in the second round. While his technique may be lacking his motor never stops. He is a true football player and honestly the kind of guy that Marinelli looks for in a lineman.

Joey Bosa isn't overrated, he's a top five pick and maybe the best football player in the draft. You guys crack me up. The writer who compares quinton coples to Bosa is an idiot. Coples is an attitude problem guy, Bosa is the opposite with a very high motor. The plays where a small back juke's a 300 lb lineman in the backfield to me are meaningless. Is he an athletic freak in his hips? No but he he's not playing CB. He's a perfect fit for a 4-3 defensive end, a guy who can set the edge against the run and give you a great pass rush. He's been the best in the country for two years and last year they guy was double teamed constantly.

We need a QB and we have an emerging young LDE in D. Lawrence so I'm not really interested in Joey Bosa at 4 .
The comments on the board are funny though

I disagree that he is worth a top 15 pick. a college power de, who lacks bend and quickness is not a top 5 pick.

I could post a clip of Tony Romo faking JJ Watt out of his shoes, and write an article with an opinion saying JJ Watt lacks flexibility in his hips and is not as valuable as some think. It doesn't necessarily make it true

I don't like Bosa based on his tape. Casually, during the season cause I like osu, but recently with draftbreakdown.com videos. When I heard that he is our possible pick at 4, I watched some more. And cringed. I agreed with the article, but not influenced by it. He should be a good run stuffing left end. IMO not worth a top 15 pick.

You said that he will give you a great pass rush. We will see, but I don't see even good in his rush. He can't bend to get around the edge. Power rush isn't likely to consistently work for him in the nfl

A lot of people are just luke warm on Bosa, and I'm really worried about that pick. I would be more comfortable with Ramsey if we don't go qb.

Helman: Joey Bosa Makes Sense For Dallas In More Ways Than One

INDIANAPOLIS – Someone far more qualified than me is ultimately going to decide if Joey Bosa is worth the Dallas Cowboys’ fourth overall pick.

The Cowboys need a pass rusher, and the highly-coveted Ohio State standout appears be a perfect fit for Rod Marinelli’s 4-3 defensive scheme. He’ll undoubtedly be in the conversation when Dallas goes on the clock at No. 4 overall, assuming he hasn’t been drafted already.

That’s about as much draft prognostication as I can do in late February, while the NFL Combine is still going on around me.

What I can say, having watched his Combine interview, is that Joey Bosa looks like he was meant to be a part of the spectacle that is the Dallas Cowboys.

It started with the way Bosa started his press conference, mobbed by dozens of reporters, with a casual “What’s up?” From there the All-American defensive end made it perfectly clear that he’s perfectly comfortable standing in the largest of spotlights.

“I haven’t been in front of you guys in a while,” Bosa said. “After meeting with a bunch of NFL coaches, you guys are nothing.”

This shouldn’t be surprising, considering the enormity of college football these days – especially at a football-crazy powerhouse like Ohio State. Bosa was one of the most visible members of the most visible team in the sport last fall, so he should be familiar with big stages...

I wonder how much stock teams will put into his combine performance? I love the kid but you usually want elite athleticism when you're taking a top 5 pass rusher.
