I just wanted to check on what I heard on the radio on my way home. I heard that Dallas and Baltimore are interested in signing Joey Porter. Is this true?

I am not a fan of Porter, actually I kinda hate him, but you have to give the man his props, he is good. I am kinda liking the idea whether it happens or not, a man can dream.

i like joey porter but i dont see how it would work i see next years starters as...

Ware/Ayodele/James/Carpenter... with ellis and burnett off the bench so i dont really see a spot for porter to come in and play and especially not with the kind of contract he expects to get and have him share time.

Ellis is starting if he can fully recover from the achilles injury, Carpenter isn't the player everyone thinks he is...

Banking on Ellis coming back from that injury and still being an explosive pass rusher is asking a lot.

I'd welcome Porter with open arms.

Carpenter was a rookie last year and was coming on strong towards the end of the year.. so i think with a year under his belt he should become a pretty good player for us and i fully expect him to start next year.. Ellis is a year older and coming off a serious injury so i think Ellis will be our off the bench pass rush specialist so we can limit his snaps and get the most out of him. We can also line him up at Defensive End if we need to.

Carpenter would be better served in the middle but of course Dallas overpaid to keep Bradie James...

That argument cuts both ways my friend.

ok, let's say that everyone is overhyping his potential for arguments sake because we really haven't seen him play for an extended period of time. But that also means that you don't have enough proof to believe the other side of the coin either. you simply have no evidence to suggest that he will not be as good or even a better player than what most people think he currently is.

To me, James is a back up player in this league, and Carpenter would probably be moved to the inside. Ellis is no match for Porter when it comes to being a linebacker, but Ellis could be a situational pass rusher if Dallas still wants to keep him.

He was pretty stiff as a LB, and now with one of the worst injuries you could have, I'm wondering if this may be the end for him as a linebacker period. Maybe he can come back as a DE, but LB seems a bit much for an injury like that, at his age.

dallas didnt overpay to keep bradie.. he was coming off a very good year and he got a reasonable contract for the player it looked like he was going to become.. i think bradie will go back to 2005 form with phillips in town

I would have agreed with you up until the playoff game Carpenter turned in. He was a monster in that game from what I remember.

The Cowboys are one of the eight teams showing interest in Porter. Some of the other teams being the Ravens, Chargers, 49ers, Dolphins, and you can't count out the Titans since they haven't really touched the $40 million they have in cap room.

Wherever he lands, he's going to get a nice sized contract.

I think miami is about to make a serious run at porter. Releasing mcmicheal just freed up an extra 3million. John clayton reported he expected porter to make a decision by mid-week, and he said porter knows he's going to get big money. Miami dosen't usually sign outside free agents to huge signing bonuses, this may be an exception.

I sure do hope you're correct because he was awful last year...
