Commanders attempt at running a 3-4 D is beyond laughable. What idiots.

Why?

If they gave Porter, Orakpo and Haynesworth they are off to a good start.

I predict they won't let Porter get away...

However, I also predict that Haynesworth will NOT be happy at NT...he was whining last year about his lack of opportunities to rush the passer and freelance. I wonder if they'll play him at DE instead.

Report: Joey Porter will visit Commanders: Could be paired with Orakpo as outside rusher http://******/dbsx7c 30 minutes ago via twitterfeed

He's not what he once was, but he's still a decent threat as a pass rusher.

Big deal. Let him go to the Commanders. Remember when he was with the Dolphins and we played them and he got owned? So what. FAIL to the Commanders -- that's what I say.

Porter had a pretty good year last year, but his head is not right, he didnt like coming out of games last year, and would wave his replacement back to the bench. Him and Larry Johnson on the same team would be interesting.

yep, shoot, are we going to let the Commanders sign him away from us, or think this way
which player would you rather have Porter or Greg Ellis? Jerry jones said he wouldnt mind having ellis back for right price. Remember now, was wade phillips that suggested to jerry jones for all coaches, management to take a vacation this week, while everyone else signs free agents, the dallas cowboys staff and management are on vacation. I could shoot wade phillips sometimes, cotton picking wade.

The Commanders will host free agent Joey Porter on Thursday.

Porter's preference is to return home to the west coast, but he needs another team interested so the Cardinals aren't bidding against themselves. The Commanders are moving to a 3-4 defense, so Porter fits from a pure scheme standpoint.

I don't see how Wade, Jerry or Dallas has any interest in Porter, he is going to want to start, he is not going to start here, I would prefer we play the young guys from last year instead of signing 30+ year old Porter.

I'd take the Spencer from the end of last season over both Porter and Ellis any day, there's no way either of those guys would even start here other then injury so why waste time, money and a roster spot trying to sign them?

well i was thinking like jerry jones said, he would be interested in signing greg ellis to a backup role on situational pass rushing, so my question was to you zoners, would you rather have griping greg ellis again in situational pass rushing or would you rather have porter;

in other words if you had to choose between them both, which one would you want?

If the Commanders add Porter, the talent level on defense improves, and passing downs get just a little harder for opponents.

What it does for the locker room remains to be seen.

That's going to be the real trick there, assuming Porter signs. Shannahan commands respect -- and he handled Marshall and Cutler in Denver well.

I would cringe if Zorn was still in charge though.

Also, signing Porter would allow for Carter to be dealt. I would kill for a 4th round pick for him. But that might be REALLY optimistic.

joe you fall in love with free agents way too easily.

We dont need porter or ellis and there is absolutely no reason for our team to even have a sniff of intrest in either one. I understand jerry saying what he said about ellis, but I cant believe for a second they would actually sign him.

We have victor butler and brandon williams and if the skins were being honest I guarantee you they would rather have two young players at olb than joey porter.

the only reason they are going to bring him in and maybe sign him is because of hasletts ties to pittsburgh and porters time there....although never together...

either way, its crazy to think that dallas should have any interest in porter.....Nevermind all the free agents joe...none of them are going to help us.......its all about april.

Spencer looked almost as good as Ware late last season, his play was one of the main reasons our D was so good towards the end of the season. Even in a situational role neither one of those guys are any better then what Spencer showed in December and January. If we're going to put our best players out there to rush on 3rd and long it would still be Ware and Spencer

There's absolutely no reason to want either one of these guys, Jerry probably only said the stuff he did about Ellis to be nice and maybe help him get some looks from other teams.

I'm sure even Skins fans if asked who they'd want rushing opposite Orakpo would take Spencer over Ellis or Porter if that was an option at this point

Typical FORMER BIG NAME-overpriced free agent that Daniel Snyder usually gives up a lot of coin for and yields very little in return

Who have they signed to "a lot of coin" this off-season?

"Typical" is just indicative of what they usually do. Used in a sentence: An over-the-hill, past his prime Joey Porter is a "typical" Dan Snyder signing that makes a big splash in March and yields little in wins and losses in November.
