"Typical" is just indicative of what they usually do. Used in a sentence: An over-the-hill, past his prime Joey Porter is a "typical" Dan Snyder signing that makes a big splash in March and yields little in wins and losses in November.

Joey Porter is a "big-splash?" Really? I was unaware that he was signed either...

I love how people still think Snyder is calling the shots. Allen and Shannahan wouldn't be here if he was. It's as simple as that. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Did Snyder say that he wasn't going to be involved in the football operations?

Yes, the sudden hire of Allen and Shanahan already proved that. Once the ink was dried Synder went on vacation.

Oh dear lord why do they keep coming back here.

Read, from the Post:

Both Shanahan and Allen said they would be the ones deciding the structure of the organization, drafting players, developing franchise philosophy and deciding who stays and who goes. Further, some of Snyder's lines of communication across the organization might also be cut -- or at least limited...

"Bruce thought that the right line of communications was between himself and the head coach," Snyder said in a statement earlier this week.

How about this from NFL.com:

I'll believe it when I see it.

See what? It says "might be limited or cut' and not 'will be limited or cut' and all of that just means that the players already on the roster cannot just circumvent the coach by going to Snyder or not be able to talk to him that much. Keep in mind that MIGHT happen.

This is nothing to say about player acquisitions. Players like Larry Johnson and Jerry Porter scream Daniel Snyder.

Signed with the Cardinals, guess his asking price was too high for the 'Skins.[/QUOTE]

Somehow i highly doubt that.

They overpaid, obviously if the Commanders felt he was worth it they can outbid the Cardinals. Joey Porter goes where the money is, hence why he signed with a 3 win team after the Steelers dropped him. He's not a high character guy who is the type to take a pay-cut to keep a teammate he think can win them a title. He's a good player but Parcells saw he was slipping and let him go...based on his track record, I'll trust Parcells judgment and say he wasn't worth the money he wanted.

For the record, I would say the same thing about overpaying if the Commanders offered him that kind of contract.

I'm glad the Commanders didn't get him. He would have created a formidable pass rushing combo oppoite Orakpo.

I am glad we didn't wither...$17.5 million for a declining player is a stereotypical Snyderatto move. I am still wondering who is going to be on the otherside of Orakpo. I really don't want Carter there...

The salary is kind of irrelevant in my mind. The deal could have been structured with heavy up front money this year, and I'd say Porter would be a very good linebacker for at least the next 2 years. 32 is getting up there, but it's not that old. Hell, I'm 32. :(

I've read a few places where Carter could be traded on draft day.

And of course, Greg Ellis is available. :)

Yeah I am 33 -- I still don't want him...we still need an outside LB. I just don't believe Porter is the answer.

If they could con someone into giving the Skins a 3 for him...I'd be ecstatic.
