He's a professional player who's made it to the top of his football career...not many people can say that....he's been taught this from the beginning and should have known better...that being said, Fassel cant say, yeah, he sucks and lost us the game.....common guys....I was screaming at the TV....after I calmed down...he made a mistake...one on national TV and has forever replaced Leon Letts bone headed play...LOL...it was unbelievable but laughable at the same time....it fits perfectly with our laughable GM...but it was a heat of a moment thing...and WE all payed...

Bones should have said NOTHING rather than this drivel.......coaches shouldn't throw a player under the bus, but outright lying about it is ridiculous
Coach gave Oruwariye a free get out of jail card. The message from Fassel is, "Do what you want, we don't mind if you screw it up."

If you watch the play again, I don't think Mingo (#81) had any clue either. He saw the block and still ran over there to get close to the ball. And unlike Oruwariye, he saw the block so he should have been communicating to him to stay away. Just a complete choke by the players AND Fassel!

The guy tries to make a play on the ball and fails to do so…not like he is the only player that has failed to catch a ball in a crucial situation.
Sure…Dallas lost the game, but does it really matter in the overall scheme of things?

It helps with our draft.

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
Loser coach defends his loser player, loser owner about to chime in too. Dysfunctional loser organization does dysfunctional loser stuff. More at eleven.
And loser fans still watch them every weekend...allowing the loser owner to continue making money.

I'm sorry but if you think burying the practice squad player who messed up somehow makes the team better than you are delusional. All it does is try to gloss over every other mistake made that game and would look impulsive and childish.
Man everyone is just so frustrated on this board. This guy was called up from the PS during the week and had never a played punt return for the Cowboys.

What is the use of cutting a player like that on a team that is going absolutely NOWHERE this year? Other than to destroy morale. His teammates support him but faceless posters want to end his career.

We live in a day of fragile egos and participation trophies where the worst crime is hurting someone’s feelings

Lol… the best thing for AO to do is simply apologize, say he made a mistake, and then move on.

Everyone rallying to his “defense” and pretending he didn’t make a mistake is just crazy lol
I remember when the 49ers played the Giants in the playoffs some years ago. The Giants were lining up for a game winning FG and the long snapper that came out of retirement for the game muffed the snap, 49ers win. When they interviewed the long snapper after the game, he took full responsibility and said, "I wish I had stayed retired." We on the other hand have coaches holding players hands after a game blowing mental breakdown. What a difference in culture.

Didn't catch this before but the would-be goat who whiffed on Vigil actually made the recovery for Cincy after the fumble. From goat to hero in seconds because he hustled.

Also, brain farts like this is why Detroit wanted to try their tackle eligible okie-doke on us last year that the refs messed up. In big moments, this is what our undisciplined team does.

He needed to be cut this morning as an example, just like Jimmy did with Curvin Richards.
We can't cut cornerbacks because we keep losing them. Oruwariye played decently there when he had to step in there. He just made a stupid play.

Johnson cut Curvin Richards because he had a fumbling problem. Johnson tried to fix it by having the defenders hit him hard in running drills. Then, against Pittsburgh, he fumbled twice in 13 carries. Johnson told him, if you fumble again, I'm going to cut you. Richards promptly fumbled again, Johnson pulled him from the game and said nothing to him. He informed Jones that Richards had to be cut and Jones said sleep on it. The next day, Johnson had not changed his mind and Richards was cut.

As James Washington said, "Jimmy gave Curvin plenty of warnings." So this wasn't just Johnson on an impulse making an example of a guy for a mistake.

The information presented is a paraphrase from "Boys Will Be Boys."
