Sad to hear of the passing of John Fitzgerald today. He was a consistent, reliable, tough, smart and durable Center who gave that Cowboys Offensive Line a strong anchor in the middle and helped make them a Top Unit during the 1970's.When Coach Tom Landry moved him in there at the start of the 1973 Season to take over from Dave Manders he knew he was going to get everything Fitz had.OL Coach Jim Myers agreed and for 8 Years that is exactly what happened.

RIP Fitz and they knew they could trust You to use the Shotgun.

RIP. Two rings and 19 playoff appearances, never played on a team with a losing record. Small for an NFL lineman at 6 foot and 255. Recovered a fumble in SB 12. Just a steady, reliable, blue collar type player. The kind of player the rosters from the 1970s were loaded with.

This never gets easy. Rafferty now Fitz. We assembled probably the best offensive lines in NFL history. Only rivaling the packers back in the 60s. With all the glitz and glamour associated with our team, especially back in the 70s and 90s, and the 2014, 2016 team, what gets missed by most is the offensive lines. One thing this franchise has always seemed to assemble better than any other team, is the oline. Let's make Fitz proud this year to honor him and that Irish line.. And a Scot lol.

he was not small back then. You look at most of the OLinemen of that era and they were 250 lbs or so

Part of the "Four Irishmen and a Scott" line that dominated in its day. RIP Fitz.

Man, I am getting old.
