I was listening to WFAN yesterday on my way home from work and John Mara of the NY Giants was on. They were speaking about the Giants, but they ask him about Parcells contacting him about the GM job.

He basically said the report is complete and utter garbage and that nothing of the sort ever happen.

Which was my take when the report came out just for the fact that it said a "player" confirmed this along with two other guys within the Giants org. Just the fact that a "player" confirmed it drops it's crediability to zero.

It was just an overzealous reporter wanting to create a story.

Well then that reporter should have his arse handed to him for giving the majority of anti-Parcells fans false hope.

And yet, even last night PTI, ESPN still were reporting it as though it happened, .. and what it does to the Jones/Parcells relationship.

Someone needs to be held accountable.

the truth is we'll never know...the only people who really know are Parcells and the Giants owners...and both have reasons why they WOULD deny it after the fact...

I am not saying I know it happened or even believe it happened, but I know it MIGHT have happened and I know Parcells has a history doing things like this...and both parties have reasons why they'd want to deny it, Parcells because he doesnt want Jones to can him, and the Mara's because they are close friends of Parcells and dont want to see him hurt

I guess I will just believe them until I have a reason not to.

Both parties involved tell us it never happened, while some dork on BSPN tells us it did.

I know whose integrity I am going with.

If denial equaled innocence, our prisons would be empty.
It also wouldn't be the first time a reporter has made up a story.

Hopefully this will cause such a division between Jerry and Bill that it will force Jerry to move into another direction for HC....which is in the organizations best interest.

The Giants have more reason to confirm that Parcells did call looking for the GM job, because that would create a problem between Jerry Jones and Parcells especially with Parcells not sure if he's coming back, a big blow up between the 2 could push Parcells out the door (victory for the Giants with so few good candidates for head coaches right now). But, they denied the story. I don't think there's any truth to this.

and it wouldn't be the 1st time the person in the story denied it for self-preservation issues.

If I accuse Brainpaint of being a Commanders fan (let's say I heard it from an unnamed moderator) and he denies it, do you believe him or me? He could be denying it for self-preservation issues.

Anyone who dismisses the report as if it's a complete fabrication is being naive, imo. Parcells is obviously a short term HC who could naturally be looking for a front office/personnel type job that keeps him involved but doesn't require the time demands of the HC position.

Parcells could very easily be putting out feelers through friends or other contacts, agents, etc. and yet personally be able to deny he's had any contact.

Don't forget Parcells agent is Jimmy Sexton. Sexton is Nick Saban's agent. I have contacts very close to the Bama program and they were telling me in NOVEMBER that Nick Saban was VERY interested in the Bama job if Shula was fired and that Sexton and his group were privately communicating with the Bama officials. Every poster on the Dolphins board thought Bama fans were crazy to say that Saban was interested in a college job, but that is what was happening behind the scenes. While fans and writers think that's treacherous or disloyal to the organization where the Coach is working, I can tell you that's the way the game is played.

Think for a moment. How long do you think the Falcons organization has been dealing with Petrino's agents? That deal was in the works since shortly after Mora's ill-fated comments on the radio.

If Parcells wants to stay involved in the game in a GM/personnel type capacity you can bet Jimmy Sexton is working the phones to see what may be out there for him. I don't discount the report at all.

Look at it this way - the only people who would have known about this are Parcells, his representative, and members high up in the Giants organization. I seriously doubt any of those people would be running to the media about this story.

Not trying to be argumentative, but who is going to hold them accountable and what are you going to do to them..

People in America love this kind of gossip crap, and football fans in America love to see trouble in Dallas. So whether it is true or not, it brings money in to the network just like crap brings money to the tabloids.

Jerry and BP are big boys and they just need to trust each other. They can't start believing the crap. It is just tabloid journalism and if we don't like it don't watch it. That is all you can do!

Whatever happened to integrity in reporting ?

Can we not expect the truth anymore ? What is the use of watching or reading if it may not be true to begin with.

So what if Jerry starts to doubt if what Parcells is telling him is true or not, simply because of a story some jerk threw out there. That impacts their trust.

Is that right ? That doesn't bother you ?

You can say "that's the way it is", and it may be so, but that doesn't make it right.

What if people keep telling you that your wife is cheating on you, and she says "no honey, I'm not."

How long before you begin to wonder if its true or not ? Does your trust dwindle somewhat ?

We can't let our society get to the point that we don't demand the truth.
