The Cowboys have John Phillips practicing deep snapping. Is it just me, or is 250lbs a little light to be a centering an offensive line? I figured the base weight should be at absolute minimum 275lbs, more likely 280+.

Tim MacMahon said he won't be doing it this year, but he still seems very light. Unless they plan on moving him to the offensive line haha

LaDouceur is 256. Main thing can you get the snap on target with a lot of zip on it?

I didn't realize he was that small. I guess I didn't notice since he is buried in that giant line during his snaps. You don't exactly see him very often in the media and I don't make many games living in the North East.

Long snapper size is not that critcal because he will get help from the guys next to him, as I said if you can snap the ball on target with a lot of zip on it that is critcal. Guys who float balls back to the kicker or holder end up with kicks that get blocked.

... and you're not allowed to "can the center" anymore, so that would help the lightweight snappers,,,

What is the fun in playing over the center if you can't put the center on his ars? :laugh2:

I saw all but two games last year. As I said, you can't really see him when he is in the middle of all the 300lbs+ linemen, and the cameras don't exactly follow him around.

Real simple. If there are no problems then he is doing a good job. From all accounts he is considered one of the best in the NFL. Has not made a bad snap in 3 years. Think about that.

long snapper has to be the kushiest job ever, maybe not kicker kushy but it's close.

I spent a couple summers trying to get my snaps back to form just so I could try to became a long snapper, hurt my shoulder too bad, but god I would love that job.

Kicker is hardly a cush job. One or two misses at the wrong time can get you unemployed in a hurry.

Now punter, on the other hand, is a cush job. :D

Clipboard QB is the best job.
