John Ross Available

I didn’t watch any Bengals games last year, but something doesn’t seem right about his stats. 21 catches on 60 targets seems very inefficient. Him having 7 TDs and not a lot of yards seems like he was getting those catches in the RZ(or screen passes? Though that should be high percentage so might not fit) so it would appear he can get open in tight spaces. Was he just a deep threat/RZ target and Dalton couldn’t connect deep?

Either way I’m intrigued by the speed. I don’t think a late pick would entice them, but a player for player trade might work since we definitely have a couple of change of scenery candidates. Particularly Lewis since Cincy seems to love CBs so much.

I don't know I'm not against it for a late pick. IF this team traded for Tavon Austin I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for Ross.

He ran a fast 40 at the combine
Other than that, nothing
Yeah, I looked that up earlier. Pretty eye popping. 4.22 I believe. But speed alone doesn’t make a good receiver. If he had done anything in his 2 years in the NFL I would be intrigued, but he really hasn’t.

I mean, why not?

If the price is right, a trio of Cooper, Gallup, and Ross could really do some damage.

If he's so good.....?

Bold prediction - New England picks him up for like a 3rd. They've loved dealing picks for players in recent years, and 4.3 clearout guy who can't play football are a Bill Belichick staple (Donte Stallworth, Phillip Dorsett, Aaron Dobson, Brandin Cooks is like the rich man's version).

It’s incredibly bold to predict they will give up a 3rd for a guy with 210 yards in 2 seasons. Tom Brady would take one look at the 36% completion % and nix the deal.

WRs are worth a pretty penny these days. If half a season of Golden Tate is worth a 3rd, why can't two years of Ross be worth that?

He’s been injured playing in only 16 total games in two seasons so that is a legitimate concern, but as I said initially I wouldn’t blink twice giving up a 5th for him.

How's his route running? Why such a horrid catch rate?

Because Golden Tate had averaged 93 catches a year for the previous four seasons. Ross has 21 catches in 2 years. On 60 targets.
