I just can't put much weight in anything Gruden says regarding QB's. Yes, he is a great coach, but he is so rainbows and sunshine and so protective of QB's it makes a lot of what he says unrealistic.

All that said, that's still a pretty strong endorsement.

Gruden also hyped Manziel to the moon.

Talent wise little Johnny can play football
His problem is he is a spoiled brat who thinks the rules don't apply to him and he will never reach his potential
Much like many before him like Ryan leaf who had the ability just not the brain

Shucks. Oh well, looks like he's a Brown.

Darn our luck!

He would be a nice consolation prize.

Aside from his physical attributes...I was impressed with Wentz's work on the white board & his play recognition/recall work that he did with Mariucci.

a lot of souls will be disappointed- it won't be Goff and it won't be Wentz. Dallas will draft Lynch at 4 or on a trade down. Remember this thread

I'll throw up if they pass on either one for Lynch. IMO he didn't look that smooth and accurate at the combine.

I'm saying the league won't know how to defend him, Judas.

Dig up Tom Landry. He won't have any answers either.

Beware of the consequences that such blaspheme can bring...

Is there anybody Gruden doesn't love?

I bet if his mother* threw a perfect spiral, he'd be touting her as a first-round draft choice.

*My apologies if his mother is not among us. But I think any one reading gets the point that it's not about his mother and more about him being in love with quarterbacks in general.

What I saw with Wentz when I watched the film on him

Pros

- Good mobility
- Decent accuracy while on the run
- GREAT deep ball accuracy (This was just the eye test, I don't know how this compares to other top college QB prospects)

Cons

- Has no idea how to slide, with how lanky he is, he's a broken leg waiting to happen
- Trouble reading defenses
- Doesn't go through reads, results in balls going straight to defenders

I understand why scouts are drooling over him, with his mobility and deep throw accuracy, high ceiling. Sadly, like one scout said, he can't chew gum and walk at the same time. He'll be a gunslinger, high TDs but too many turnovers to overcome.

Pass on him and there will be no regrets.

Didn't Gruden like R.G. III? ;)

To be fair, he stuck it to Mayock about Russell Wilson and told scouts they were getting too caught up in measurements rather than what they saw on film.

So, broken clocks and all that. Haha

Don't let Risen Star see this.
