Whereas, a player option is more likely to be a small number based on minimal performance, and that lets OBJ get back in the market for something more.

I would assume you are pretty accurate on this. Sounds like Odell has been looking for a multi year deal, and really doesnt want to do this again next season. The details of a contract for next year is probably the biggest factor.

My thinking was that the team option to pick up the contract would be at the numbers that were mentioned before. I think he’s obviously playing fur that next contract at this point, with Dallas or elsewhere. It’s now on him to show he can still play at past levels.

I have no issue with it either way. I would not mind getting OBJ but it really comes down to the terms of the contract. Cowboy need to have some protection in this deal given the injury.

If something does get done, I’m betting it’s effectively just for this season. Maybe an option for ‘23, but no guarantees.

that would be best for me, yep. I'd like him on the roster as a #4 maybe #3 WR if he can beat out Washington. Brown is a possession WR though, so that's probably a whole different role.
