I think they try to keep brown and draft one if not two CB
Just this fan's opinion, but I don't think Brown is worth "paying for" in terms of what free agents typically look for.

This isn't any more informative than what people around here are posting.
One huge issue with the defense was the simple symmetrical coverage over and over again. That and Jaylon biting especially hard on every PA action fake. Huge lanes in the middle of field were common but OCs could easily dial up routes to attack them down after down.
If the Cowboys pass up on monster DT Javon Kinlaw and instead pick up overrated S Grant Delpit, it's going to be another major draft failure waste of top picks for this team, even though Marinelli is no longer here. This will show that the "genius" problem is someone else in that Cowboys Draft War Room... Jerry Jones, Stephen, Charlotte, Jerry Jr., Will McClay, etc?The crazy thing about Devin Smith being inactive for a STs player. Is that the STs sucked and Devin Smith coming out of Ohio St was considered an elite gunner on STs yet he never even got looked at there.
At pick 17 if they go safety it has to be LSU S Grant Delpit.
Awuzie ran hot and cold. There were outstanding games he had and then way too many where he was the guy getting picked on all game long.
Why is it that people say heath is gone. Even if he re-signed for a measly 2 million a year he can backup both safety spots and play ST. Like Lee its not bad to have an experienced guy as a backup but we all want a more dynamic starter so that understandable. We already have issues at CB and only have 1 decent safety on the current roster. Retain Heath, draft his starting replacement and we have some good depth at this position still cheap.
I think he's looking at atleast 3M in free agency. Its his 3rd and probably last big contract. I'd like to keep him, but Heath is talented enough to keep a young guy from seeing the field. I'd rather get the young guy developing on the fly, may it be a rookie or Donovan Wilson. Heath is starting this year imo, whether its with Dallas or on another team. Why is it that people say heath is gone. I agree but they make look at Donovan Wilson being the same type of player as Heath except younger and cheaper. I think the most likely scenario by far is that Heath doesn't sign before the draft and then both sides decide what to do after they see whether Dallas drafts a safety.
If they don’t sign brown or jones they have to sign someone or draft 2 for sureJust this fan's opinion, but I don't think Brown is worth "paying for" in terms of what free agents typically look for.
His contract's up.Why would they cut Heath? He might not be a flashy star but the man will give you 100% every game.
Free agent though at the right price he’s good depth. Just shouldn’t be your starterWhy would they cut Heath? He might not be a flashy star but the man will give you 100% every game.
He won't be that expensive i think.... how much was he making last year? His contract's up.
my feeling they will resign him and that is not a bad thingFree agent though at the right price he’s good depth. Just shouldn’t be your starter
Every team needs a backup kickermy feeling they will resign him and that is not a bad thing
Machota has a season review article up with some comments on what offseason moves could happen. FWIW, these were his comments -
He doesn't even mention Dak or Amari not being resigned, which I think its obvious.
TE - No real comment on Witten's future but says Jarwin will have a bigger role next year.
WR - interesting stat that Devin Smith had 5 catches for 113 yards and a TD in his first three games but then they made him inactive for the rest of the season to keep a ST player. That works out to 27 catches for 602 yards for a 4th WR, which is excellent.
DT - thinks that Maliek Collins could return and that Quinn gets a big contract whether here or elsewhere.
LB - no idea if Sean Lee returns or retires.
Safety - thinks our #1 pick is a Safety and Heath is likely gone.
CB - Thinks Byron Jones gets a big contract (here or elsewhere), Awuzie was better than fans thought and Anthony Brown is likely to be resigned.
Awuzie was the poster child for domestic abuse this season. He sucked and cost us big time.Machota has a season review article up with some comments on what offseason moves could happen. FWIW, these were his comments -

I think Awuzie was worse than Machota thought!
Witten might come back - or he might not.
Collins and Quinn might come back - unless they don't.
Lee could play or retire.
And Byron Jones will get a new contract - here or somewhere else.
That's what I love about Machota, so definitive! You just can't get inside information like this anywhere else!
