Well last year was Hankins' worst season as a Pro so saying Harrison made him is complete nonsense and shows you have no idea what you're talking about
Define worst season? Did you actually watch any games or just pull up a list of statistics? That's like looking at JPP's sack total from last year, it looks impressive, but until you realize that something like 3/4ths of them came against two of the worst teams in the NFL (Cleveland and Chicago IIRC) then it's not as impressive as it seems on paper. Different d coordinators had something to do with that as well. Any Giants fan who actually watches the games will tell you the majority of his success last year came from Snacks. Unfortunately I've not had the privilege of watching way too many Gnats games because my roomate is a Gnats fan. It looks like Google is your best friend.

Again, not saying he wasn't above average but with the surrounding cast he is replaceable and if the Ginats spend a first round pick on someone like Brantley it may actually be better because he is a better pass rusher.

Well being that I'm from New York, watch the giants nearly every week, have an entire network of family/friends that are giant fans, and have a brother that covers the team as a beat writer I think I'm pretty informed on their team.

But don't take it from me, here's one of many articles you can find by a simple google search;

Hankins is coming off of his worst season in the NFL. He earned his lowest grade from Pro Football Focus -- and it wasn't even close. This might not be a coincidence either. Hankins was playing a new position. For the first time in his career, Hankins shifted from the one-technique defensive tackle position -- now occupied by Harrison -- and he played the 3-technique all season. Hankins is best suited to play his old position but the Giants will not move Harrison from that spot.

In a season we went 13-3 your crying about two losses by a combined 4 points. You must be awesome at parties.

let me be real clear about this, so if you need, get a friend to help. How many playoff games did we win? When you strive for the SB, the amount of games you win means nothing. No team has been bumped out of the playoffs but got to advance based on their record. Once you are in the playoffs, no one cares what you did in the regular season, thats why its not named, "continued regular season" its called the "playoffs" because your record doesnt matter.

Ty for playing.

Yeah Hankins was pretty good. I guess with Snacks you don't need two 1's but Hankins was still a beast.

Did they change up the defense? Their DL used to run more of a 2 gap system by their DT's, so effectively both tackles kinda had the "1T" responsibility on early downs. Maybe not but I remember that for some reason. I'd agree that playing Hankins at the 3 is kinda counter-intuitive, but he was still a good player.

I wonder what their plans are at the 3.

Anywho, NYG losing a quality player is always cool with me.

I'd like more postseason success.

This thread was about a good player leaving the division and people being understandably content with this news.

Meanwhile you, as the biggest sourpuss I've seen in sometime, come in and talk about losing a heartbreaking game in the playoffs and blaming Garrett for some amorphous claim that we don't attack enemies weaknesses. My comment then that you're just a bellyaching malcontent was concomitant.

Thanks for noticing, where do you want the autograph.

Let me sum you up.....

Yea, that sums up how much thought i put into it.

So to recap, im right im right, and guess what, we agree, more post season success, because again. Garrett doesnt attack weaknesses, both planning or game day. Than we realize, omg no cares about your record in the playoffs. topped off by, 13-3 doesnt guarantee success in the playoffs either.

Regardless how i feel, if Dallas is running on a team, or the run is working, we stop it, If a corner goes down, ive actually watch this team not go after that player with some plays on that side to test the incoming player.

Care to defend the RKG strategy?

Ps, throw up your "next year champs" sign as well. 20 plus years and counting, that much of a SB drought must excite you year in and year out.

Hankins isn't the first casualty. They also have Pugh, Richburg, and Beckham contracts on the way next year. Keeping in mind the money that they dump trucked into their defense last year.

Oh the benefits of winning the offseason
They got Snacks and lost Hankins. I would take that tradeoff any day and twice on Sundays.

my whole take on that has been We dont have to start witten. He doesnt need to play and start he can just be part time, packages, 3rd and short. Something like that. This whole starting him has irked me off for hte last two seasons , let him be part time, keep him fresh, keep him thinking about the game instead of being beaten on for no reason.
You were mad that they started Witten the last two years...

Who would have been the starter?

How about if they just reduced his snaps from 100% per game to 85%?

I actually agree with much of what the article states and I even said part of the reason for the difference in stats was not only surrounding personnel but DC (I did fail to mention the move but meant to). The article also supports my theory that the Giants may be better off with a different molded DT out of the draft. BTW, PFF is a joke, Flowers ranking is a perfect example.

Either way I think we can agree Hankins is an above average player but he won't be as missed as most people in this thread think. I'm not saying it won't be a loss, but there's not gonna be a huge hole for Zeke to run through just becasue Hankins isn't there. As I've already stated, if they draft a top tier LB or DT it could actually be an improvement.

sure , fine keep him fresh. Its good he became Daks blanket, but to my point also, if Dak is more comfortable with someone else, screw it, let the other guy play as well. I like, liked Hanna (in case hes tossed) yes injuries held him back, if hes healthy and Dak say liked him more. Play him. Who knows who is going to be the hot hand. We know what we got in Witten and hes great, but there are times when Witten can make you scratch your head, or we know hes not going to out run anyone, and if Dallas needs that other receiver who might get more yards in certain situations, run it. Now, teh case can be made none of our TEs can do that. Thatt happens, but if they cant, start churning that part and dont be afraid to tell Witten to hold up on the start.

Where for a few seasons under Romo, the team took a bit to get hot. Im hoping with Dak, the team is just explosive and starts scoring fast, or throwing defenses off by having goo long drives like we started off in the beginning. Is every idea i have goign to work no. but if someone can say (and someone did in another thread and i was happy for it) hey SS, thats not possible, heres why. Great, that helps me out.

Let's just sum you up and simplify the entire thing.

Every time you post the stench of Summer's Eve wafts over the entire thread. It's like a thick mold. I'll bet your mother even thinks "I probably should have swa.."..........nevermind.

Why do you follow still, seriously? I don't get how this thread can turn negative and I don't get how one can deduct Dallas won't attack the middle of any defense given the Cowboys personnel. Cheer up man, this is supposed to be fun.

Tyrone Crawford > Hankins. I get that they are different style players and Hankins is a known run D beast, but Crawford isn't a slouch there and can at least get some pressure on the QB every once in a while.
Tyrone Crawford > than nothing, at this point.

Excellent point, being 13-3 last season means nothing. Playoff wins ,ran a little something, but the Super Bowl wins are the goal! I'm hopeful we get a playoff win this year
