Just looking for opinion on the Cowboys using Ju Jones on kickoffs and or punts. He did this at ND and given the fact that Jones splits time at RB what would your view on him taking on these duties be?

as injury prone as julius is and how important he is to our running attack, I would think it would be idiotic to put him on returns. I don't understand why the hell they put newman on returns either.

I don't like it for punts. He or Barber would make me nervous back there. Julius has never really looked natural catching passes, so him fetching punts may be difficult to watch.

Barber sounds good in theory, but so did Bill Bates at one time.

I think both or either would do well at kick off returns.

Jones was 2nd all time at ND behind Tim Brown on Kick returns and this is an area of weakness for Dallas right now. Myself I don't think you avoid playing guys because they could get injured.

tyson thompson is doing fine on kickoff returns(look at the stats, he is about even with Hester for avg KICKOFF return). We do need to do something about punt returning though, but julius is not the answer

Hester is a threat I don't see Thompson as much of a threat. He has had 1 good return but for the most part has had problems getting the ball past the 20 yard line this season stats don't always tell the whole truth. Only reason I mentioned Jones is because his history as a kickoff return man and the success he had doing it.

Sorry, but Thompson is stinking up the joint and I don't have to even compare averages with anyboby to see that.

I would like to see what Julius Jones could bring to the table on kickoff returns. It would get him some more touches and maybe he could solidify the position. He can be very effective in the open field... anyways I am tired of Tyson Thompson going down after the first defender touches him.

I would not mind it, but I don't think JJ would do it. He has a big chip on his shoulder ,you can tell it every time they show him and there is no way he is risking injury on KO returns in his contract year.

I don't think he will get a big payday but I think he still believes he can be a every down RB starter for a team in the NFL.

hester only has one kickoff return for a touchdown and thompson more 20+ returns. He is doing fine. Tyson has over 20 returns, so I think the stats are pretty solid. If he only had one or two, I would say maybe they are deceiving.

Focus your attention on punt returns. Crayton is decent back there but a little more would be nice. I wonder how Keith Davis' hands are?

there is a reason most teams use someone OTHER than a starting running back or wide receiver to return kicks.

Hmmm.... what could it be?

It would definitely help Julius in free agency next year. Show a little versatility to his new team.

I would just like to get something out of our 2nd rd pick than what I'm currently seeing in him. He is a starter only in name but his carries have gone down and his ability as a return man would benefit this team. Jones strong suit is his ability to run in space and with his quickness and speed I just think he would be a legit threat in the kickoff returns just as he proved at ND.

I remember watching Julius take a return all the way against Nebraska in a Saturday night game his Sr. year. He was good at it.

I think it would be an idea worth looking into.

JJ is great in space, when he can get going. Kickoffs are exactly where this happens.
