Totally agree. His helmet was inside the opposing players shoulder pads as he was pursuing the returner. That block has been thrown ever since football was invented.

They're basically saying not to block the guy at all in this instance, which is ridiculous. If he goes any lower from the chest down, he completely blows him up. And clearly a block around the waist or lower is a definite penalty and possible injury.

Calling a penalty in live action is one thing but to have time review the play and then levy a fine...it's mind boggling. Where is football headed????

Does that mean there shouldn't be changes or adjustments down the road?

Why? You want to make it cheaper for guys to make dangerous hits?

Kill the bad habits early in a career before they become routine

Why would a block at the waist be a penalty?

The 24k is stupid, but Jones getting fined for taking his helmet off? How does that deserve a fine? AJ Green didn't even get a suspension for punching and trying to choke out a player

I can forgive the ref for the bad call, but levying a fine on Woods is unexplainable and inexcusable.

I honestly don't get what's wrong with that.

That’s because there’s nothing wrong with it. An absolutely legal block that you see all the time. The clowns in here arguing otherwise are trolling.

The players should take every single fine, suspension anything to court. Just tie the NFL up in so much legal bs that they don't have time to do anything else

Right. Players should spend tens of thousands of dollars (or more) fighting fines that they've agreed to in the CBA.

Any player who spends 50k fighting a 20k fine to "tie the NFL up" is an idiot.

It doesn't cost anything to appeal these fines...... that is what the NFLPA is for

And they are usually reduced so why not

edit- sorry ....didn't read his whole post..... he was talking about taking it to Federal Court like Zeke

It was a tongue in cheek comment, but you sure put me in my place. Well done sir.
