Jordan Gross Or Marvel Smith Could Replace Flozelll Adams...

There is no doubt that Dallas needs to upgrade the LT position because Flozell Adams isn't what he use to be.

Possible replacements could be Jordan Gross, 6'5 and 300 LB's, has experience as LT and RT. Right now, he is listed as the #1 OT.

Another possibilty could be Steelers OT Marvel Smith, the #2 rated Tackle. He is 6'5 and 322LB's.

Just two possibilities that could be an upgrade to Flozell. Other names that could be a little cheaper are Max Starks(Pitt), Kaliff Barnes(Jags) and Vernon Carey(MIami).

Marvel Smith is becoming a shell of his former self b/c he's been battling a chronic back injury. That's what the Steelers fans have been saying on their forum when I visited them prior to our game. BTW-they also said Max Starks is just merely OK.

Yes we need an upgrade but it's the same deal as TO. He just got a new deal and getting rid of him will affect our cap plus a new LT would cost $$$$$$$.

Other than the big contract the Flozell just got and the big contract either one of these players will cost on top of the fact we need to sign Dware I don't see it happening

Marvel Smith has major, major back problems. He missed the end of last season with them and has missed the last 10-12 games this year because of it.

He's on the wrong side of 30 with major back problems. Not even Jerry is dumb enough (I think) to sign him.

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I thought Flo played damn well. Look at the top D's we played, you didn't hear very much from his man. I think he gets a bad rap at times. Yes, he false starts ALOT but he also keeps his man incheck. Our main problem was at LG when Kosier went down. When Flo is gone, I think we're all gonna realize just how good he was. It's very difficult to find a stout LT.. Becareful of what you wish for.. Just sayin.....

Brian Broadus said yesterday that with Flo they always had to be on him.

He is not a very motivated guy and doesn't have a deep passion for the game or anything.

Which is fine with me as long as you're playing at a high level but he didn't this year.

He got payed and went to El Sucko.

They said Trent Cole has always been an easy match up for him and Cole just put it on him Sunday.

Can't do it. Can't be done. You'd have to eat the fat deal you just gave Flo and then turn around and give another FAT DEAL to the guy you're wanting to replace him with.

This isn't Madden people. You simply can't turn the cap off in order to make these things work just because you want them to.

Flozell also battled alot of injuries this year and for sure Kosier's loss affected him as well.

He was playing with one arm at times so I have to give him a partial pass for most of this season. My worry is that the whole line was underperforming and if they cannot adjust to just having one replacement and do better then they did then you have to look at the coaching.

This. He played hurt ALL year. He had the shoulder/hand issue then the leg issue. He gutted it out and did not miss a game. That should bode in his favor. Yet with this fanbase it doesnt. Go figure.

Probably the best year of Flo's career was the first year of his previous contract, I think '03. I recall Parcells basically saying we had to sign Flo because there was no alternative.

He did look a lot of times like he didn't care out there. He wasn't playing great before he got hurt. Nate Newton said yesterday that most of the OL didn't even appear to be trying the last part of the season, and Michael Irvin said the same a few days ago.

The fact is they shouldn't have given Flo a huge deal, but were cornered because they hadn't been able to develop anyone to replace him.

We can probably eat one of those ridiculous deals that Jerry signed last offseason, but not multiple of them. If we have $15M in cap room or whatever it is, and it won't cost a lot to cut one of those guys, I'd do it. You probably can't get away with more than one, but it seems feasible to ditch possibly one of them. Of course, we're limited as to signing any new free agents, but so what?

Adams is near the end. If he's back next year, they need to draft his replacement - or at least try to - if Free can't do it.

Personally, I'd rather us shed as much dead weight as possible (TO), spend little $ on new FAs, and focus on drafting well. I wouldn't hand out any big contracts whatsoever this offseason, except for Ware. When you look at what Dallas got out of Newman, Adams, Hamlin, MBIII, and Roy Williams this season vs. what they got from the rookies, especially considering that the rookies made less $ combined than any of those individuals, it's pretty obvious what the smart way to go is.

he signed a 6 year contract with a 13mil $ signing bonus. We would have to "eat" 5/6 of that signing bonus if we traded or cut him (minus 1/6 because the 2008 season has already ended).

Doesn't mean he has to start. He can sit the bench and count the dollars he robbed from jerry while a real player fills the spot.

Gross is a RT--we have Colombo in place. Gross struggled when played at LT>

Flo had a broken hand most of the year. Like it or not, he will be the starter in '09.
