This is what I would like to see: for all positions, bring in someone that can compete to start and push these veterans players who want to keep their job. I know it's not realistic to think that we could find cheap talent to achieve this, but in a perfect off-season, that's what I would like to see happen. I agree, Flo is good once he get's his paws on someone, but he's slow and has trouble with the faster DE's and, of course, there's the False Starts. If he had someone behind him who could really scare his status and make him work hard in the offseason to improve, maybe we could see more of the positive he brings. I think the same should be done for Romo, Ken Hamlin, Anthony Spencer (I say Anthony, because I don't expect Ellis will be back next year and I want Anthony to take this opportunity seriously), Marcus Spears, and Chris Canty. Of course, Chris is a Free Agent, so he might be done, but I truly hope not. Right now is not the time for the Cowboys to have a need in that area where it is so difficult to find cheap talent that can readily accept their role as a 3-4 defensive lineman. That role takes all the fun out of being a DL, but in order to be successful, they have to accept receiving no credit for what they do.

Honestly, why do we keep writing about these things. He isn't going anywhere because they just gave him a long term extention. The cap hit will be to much to just cut him. What needs to be done is trying to figure out a way for him to improve and not who can replace him because its not going to happen to him or anyone else with a long term deal.

Doesn't mean he has to start. He can sit the bench and count the dollars he robbed from jerry while a real player fills the spot.

Again, you people are going way overboard on this Flo hate stuff.

He'll be healthy next yr and be a different player. Even with the injuries he had he wasnt as bad as some of you make him out to be.

Flo had a great year just one season ago...he performed at a level that certainly warranted making him a highly paid starting LT in the league.

One year later, he has not lost it...he had a year filled with injury after injury, along with trying to play beside one of the all-time sorry OG's for most of the season.

Flo's false starts annoy the heck out of me, but I have every confidence that he'll be just fine next season.

I think most teams figured out, don't put a big Defensive Lineman on Flozell, because of his strength, but if you put a Speedy OLB on him in a 3-4 defense and you can see how SLOW flozell really is. I would really like to see how many false starts flozell has against speedy linebackers as opposed to big defensive lineman...

Man I couldn't agree with you more. Flo goes against the other teams best pass rusher every week and handles his business. If they want to get rid of him cause of his false starts, fine, but his play is nowhere near guys are making it out to be.. The guy played hurt all year just about and held his own. LT's are hard to find especially good ones. Becareful of what you wish for....

Yes, he was often as bad as he's being made out to be.

I'm amazed how people just discount anything that's reported on these guys, unless it's positive.

Flo will be 34 next season. Not only is there an even greater likelihood he won't be healthy at his age, but age catches up to players in general in their 30s. There's a better chance than not that the Flo we have in the future will be even less of a player than he was this year.

He's a perfect example why you don't give old O-linemen - Marco Rivera, Larry Allen - fat contracts. Jones did it twice previously with disastrous results, and still didn't learn his lesson.

Not counting any incentive bonuses (which he really wouldn't deserve anyway) I have Flozell Adams' 2009 salary cap hit at $3.17 M ($1 M base + $1.17M pro-rated bonus). If we cut him now, his 2009 cap hit would be $10.85 M ($1.17M pro-rated bonus X 5 years remaining on deal).

It would cost us $7.68M in cap room to cut him. Great signing Jerry. So unfortunately for now, it's "cheaper to keep her".

Flo handles his spot ok. I am more worried about the other RT and LG. How about Center? TO is always yelling at Gurode about bad protections being called out and we know his snap counts are a mystery. So honestly, Flo would be the last to go of all 5 lineman IMO.

TO, Pac, Roy W. (d), Tank, Spears, Ellis, Keith Davis

Goodbye. Bring in some new players.

If those #s are close to accurate, it's not feasible to cut Flo. However, in spite of what others say, it is feasible to cut TO.

I said in another post that I don't think that we replace him, I think we should move him to LG to prolong his career and bring someone in for LT. Flo, Gurode and Davis on the inside would be something, we have Free, but don't know what type of talent yet, so we should look to see if there is anyone out there that could come in and work at left tackle, just a thought.

Jordan Gross is a right tackle if I'm not mistaken

The difference between right and left tackle is like night and day

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I thought Flo played damn well. Look at the top D's we played, you didn't hear very much from his man. I think he gets a bad rap at times. Yes, he false starts ALOT but he also keeps his man incheck. Our main problem was at LG when Kosier went down. When Flo is gone, I think we're all gonna realize just how good he was. It's very difficult to find a stout LT.. Becareful of what you wish for.. Just sayin.....

Mansta--I am going to forgive you for saying that ----just because I think we have the same birthday which means you are a good guy ;)

Goodbye. Bring in some new players.

I'll keep Davis. Great ST player and he played through some serious injuries.

There is no doubt that Dallas needs to upgrade the LT position because Flozell Adams isn't what he use to be.

Possible replacements could be Jordan Gross, 6'5 and 300 LB's, has experience as LT and RT. Right now, he is listed as the #1 OT.

Another possibilty could be Steelers OT Marvel Smith, the #2 rated Tackle. He is 6'5 and 322LB's.

Just two possibilities that could be an upgrade to Flozell. Other names that could be a little cheaper are Max Starks(Pitt), Kaliff Barnes(Jags) and Vernon Carey(MIami).

Can they fall on opponents and smother them?
