They're in rebuilding mode so in his last year of his deal would be the earliest that miami would be ready to compete and then you would have to sign him again to a much bigger contract. If he was a building block, you sign him to atvleast a 4-yr- preferably 5-yr deal.

I believe the new team can choose to take some of the bonus money but I’m not 100% sure about that.

I guess it is possible but in my mind it is highly unlikely to happen…. I’ve been wrong before though.

There wouldn’t be a new deal. The fact that Miami eats the signing bonus is one of the most attractive things for the new team

My point wasn't about cap hit to us. But the bonus they just paid to extend him, which would be money Miami lost and get nothing in return

Voch seems pretty sure this will happen in the near future. Obviously Broaddus is one of his sources but he’s saying they are hearing it from other reliable sources. Interesting. And yes, they are saying the contract extension is not an issue.
