Which is exactly what Daks cap number jumps to next year. Dak has been super affordable so far with how the cowboys have worked the contract. The bill is about to come due though, and they are almost to a point where they can’t keep pushing money into the future because they have to start thinking about Daks next deal already.
That $50 million in space has Daks contract already included

Excellent point! I was going to mention his cap hit next season up top didn't wanna add more fuel (lol). Things could get very interesting next year when you see the cap hit AND dead money. What IF Dak refuses to restructure w/o extension?

She's absolutely right!!! Dak has to elevate this offense in order for us to get much further than we went last year. His task will be harder this year with a weakened o-line and many questions surrounding unproven receiving corp depth, but he still have to push through.

Dak isn't elevating this offense, at least not against the better teams in the league.

100% correct - gave you a like just for that last sentence. In Jerry's own words, he builds a roster to remain 'relevant and interesting'. It's an added bonus if it results in a little playoff success, but that really isn't the main goal.
Yeah he just doesn’t back it up with his actions if he truly wants to win….

110% Dak supporter but Bob Sturms did a piece about him taking his game to the next level. In short, he suggested there are times a QB has to see plays/opportunities on the field that his offensive coordinator's not calling or missing. This is his problem Dak's playoff game against the 49ers last season. He thought Dak should have taken more ownership rather than relying 100% on calls from the sideline.
That's interesting I heard from @CowboyRoy Dak played a good game vs the 49ers and the rest of the team let him down. It wasn't #4 fault.

@Hawkeye0202 good post by the way. Strum is right, and hopefully we some adjustments by #4.

I wonder if this is her opinion or something she's hearing in league circles.

you mean how new super contact russ has elevated his team the last 5 years OH wait, HE DID NOT, hasnt done much since LOB and that great run game with Beast mode slowly dismantled OR the super contract holder Watson has elevated his team ( fully guaranteed deal at what was it 230million blaming his old Texan team for his lack of success but wait a QB can do it all by himself.) Stafford had to change teams to win, a fully ready SB type team willing to risk it all for one ring..

DID Dak have that?

Stafford only put up numbers in Detroit, somehow dak has not only put up numbers BUT he took a Garett led team with a terrible GM, weak FA players, no defense, bad kickers, WRBC, overpaid slow RB whos just a FB, a weak center, no LG , an oft injured LT, a project at RT, clueless ownership run franchise much farther than other QBs have done I mean those are the narratives around here so all those disadvantages and Dak winning a lot of games just not the big ones. That team issue if you cant figure that out , you all need to go follow Cornhole, its more your speed.

or wait maybe its Rogers not getting his team into the Bowl straight year right on the edge he should at the highest paid money be winning EVERY Superbowl his $$$$$$ says so correct or maybe its like lets see whos next on the list who make a ton of money who's not elevating a shorthanded team?

daks not superhuman, show me who is, and his 40mil means squat look all over sports contracts don't equate to being able to lead a shorthanded TEAM to the championship by yourself.

so fracking sick of these narratives. All those who believe daks been holding us back need to adjust your meds same as Romo i remember all those games and frankly it wasn't the QB imploding in those games,

Same here but notice the thread of Cowboys leading the league in homegrown rosters. Correlation????
I’m on the fence about what that means….I don’t know if that’s good or bad…..says we draft well but could also say we keep inferior talent as long as it’s homegrown….

We gotta just be happy with Dak finally throwing into a NFL window, and throwing a receiver open....it's a process

I follow Jori. She's a fantastic source. As far as I know, she has many good sources & doesn't blow her own smoke.

I certainly hope this idiotic man was referring to Jori' comment about Jerry & not directed at her. Because if it was, his looks go with his ruthless ignorant character, classless!

Isn't every QB expected to elevate his team? Never been a QB that can increase the talent level of his players; all he can do is exploit and try to maximize the effect of that talent.

Even McMahon, Dilfer and Johnson elevated their teams by making the plays when they were there and minimizing the mistakes. They didn't hurt their teams.

It is incumbent on management to surround the QB with enough talent that he doesn't have to stretch to overcome marginal talent. Which we might see Rodgers doing this season. And yes, Prescott if that OL or WR corps struggle.

Romo might have delivered had he had a better OL and D during his time but he was pushed to take more risks to score more because he knew his D could not stop the opposition.

Prescott has, on paper, the best D the Cowboys have had since the 90's so it stands to reason Prescott can play within himself and get the ball in the hands of his weapons just like Aikman did. And Montana, Bradshaw and Brady.

The question I have is can the OC game plan and call the games within the framework of the team just like Zampese and Turner did? A sharp OC can call a game with a strong D a hell of a lot better than being pushed to score in the 30's to compete. A sharp OC with the strong D can play field position football with the accent on winning the game, not putting up gawdy stats.

Know when McC was his best at game planning and calling? When he knew he had a good D.

Look,, I get you don’t like Dak. I know who the guys are on this site who don’t like him for whatever reason. I’ve grown to accept it.

But this is crap. Don’t give Jerry or Stephen a out for how they build this roster. They gave big money to Collins, Jaylon and Amari just to let them go and are about to do the same with Zeke. They are not building this roster the way it’s suppose to be built.
I am not sure we should totally blame Jerry for zeke. Except as the ultimate authority. YEs the contract was big...but at the time Zeke was a 2-time rushing champion...SHOULD HAVE BEEN THREE he got robbed. Great protection and outlet for Dak. The future was being built.

Then Moore let the run game go straight down the toilet. And he let zeke be relegated to blocking FB. What a sham and shame!

So now it is what it is...we probably do have to let zeke test the market, see what he's worth. I;d like to see him go to another team that will play him and stop the incessant beeching here about him. Let the self proclaimed expert GMs beech about the next thing please!
