This is going to be a run-by-run breakdown using the NFL.com Coaches Film.

I am going to break this down by quarter for anyone else who might be reviewing and wanting to reply.

1st Quarter
14:54-Randle zone cutback off LG: Runs for 2 yards. Randle is brought down by an arm tackle here by Ayers. He probably should have gotten a few more, but he also had a DL on the ground in front of him.

14:24-Randle of the LG: is met in the hole by #59 for no gain, spins away from the defender and picks up three yards. Hit by Ayers, fumbles and recovers.

11:34 Randle off RT: Hit the hole with good pop, picks up 3 yards and has some room, but Selvie wraps up both feet just in time.

10:59 Randle off LT: Makes good cut, hits hole and explodes, tripped up by Unaga just as he's getting to the second level. 5 yard gain. This was a good cut and read and slipped through a lot of traffic here.

9:34 Randle off LT: On his best run of the night, Randle explodes on his cut and flies upfield for 15. He is met by two defenders, runs through a shoulder tackle and is wrapped up by Collins.

7:24 Randle bounces off RT: Randle sees nothing inside, so bounces outside and is up-ended by Rogers-Cromartie. This is one Murray might have housed, but Cromartie was coming in like a missile

After this, the Cowboys throw the ball six straight times inside the redzone and settle for a FG.

1:53 off RT: Randle gets one more 3 yard carry in the quarter. The Giants do a great job stringing this run to the sideline. Unaga jumps Randle's back as he hits the hole. Randle carries him for a couple.

So, for the 1st quarter, the Randle shows good pop. He has a couple real good runs, and a couple that he probably could have had more. He showed great vision and explosion, however as some have pointed out, if he breaks another tackle or two, there is a lot of yards to be had. It's also worth note, the Cowboys only tried to run between the tackles once, possible twice. I don't know if that is a lack of faith in Randle inside or just game planning.

1st Quarter: 7 carries for 28 yards (Long of 15)

2nd Quarter

15:00 Randle up the middle for 5 yards. This is effectively Randle's first between the tackles carry. This was a great showing of both patience and explosion. There is nothing there and the Giants have maintained the edges, so Randle explodes through a tiny crease and picks up some hard yards. This is a good run to watch for anyone thinking Randle cant lower his shoulder.

14:13 Randle off LG for 3: Tyron gets a great pull and pushes his guy nearly off the field, but there are two other defenders who hit the hole with Randle. Looked almost like a blown blocking assignment somewhere.

Remarkably, this is the extent of Randle's work in the second quarter. Just as he seems to be getting into a rhythm, the team brings in McFadden.

His first carry, though it was only a 5 yard gain, showed great pop and a willingness to get the tough yards. This is why Randle is the starter.

I forgot to add, in the First Quarter, Randle is gang tackled on 5/7 runs. He's only tackled solo (which many think he should be breaking) twice. In the second quarter, he doesn't have a chance to break a tackle.

Randle is a solid RB. He's tough and will fight for extra yardage. He just lacks that extra umph whether it's speed or power that you want in a full-time starter. that's my only complaint.

3rd Quarter

9:48 Randle off LT for 2: There is a hole. Randle gets arm tackled by Hankins. He definitely should have had more on this run. This is the first run where Randle really left something on the field. Unimpressive.

9:05 Randle off RT for 7: This is a great job blocking at the POT by everyone. Witten seals the edge and Clutts runs like a wrecking ball. Randle is hit hard but wiggles forward.

7:14 Randle off LT for 5: Another good run for people not thinking Randle has pop. Randle is met just through the hole by 3 Giants yet powers through them for another 3 yards.

5:41 Randle off RT for 5: There is all kind of day light and hole everywhere on this run. Randle definitely left some yardage on the field here. It looked like he was almost confused on which hole he should take. This is a 10 yard run for Murray.

2:26 Randle off LT for 4: Please watch this run if you don't like Randle. He is met in the hole by Hankins AND Selvie. He carries them both for 4 yards. This kid is tough as nails.

1:50 Randle off RG for 1: This run has no shot. The Giant's absolutely blow it up.

:19 Randle off LG for 2: Terrance Williams can't block linebackers. Shocker. Randle is bottled up by three Giants after a short gain.

This Quarter was hot and cold for Randle. He showed a great deal of toughness and willingness to sacrifice his body, but there were a couple runs where he was a little bit hesitant and it cost him and the Cowboys yardage. All in all, not a bad body of work.

Obviously there were no runs in the 4th Quarter.

Here is my take. Randle is still learning and acclimating himself. He is never going to be a home run guy, but he is going to fight for every yard and I believe as the season goes on, he will progress and show why the coaches like him so much. It never looked like a lack of speed, agility or strength stopped him, it looked like indecisiveness.

I will also say, the coaches really need to mix the runs up more. I don't know if they don't have faith in Randle to run between the tackles or what, but the Giants were flying off the edges the whole game.

I'll also say, this wasn't the best game all around for the interior guys and the wing blockers left a lot to be desired. All in all, after review I am not worried at all about Randle or the run game. I think the RBBC actually hurt them in this game, as McFadden didn't look good at all and looked particularly uncomfortable when needing to be decisive.

Good review. It's a very reasonable performance for a player in his 1st game as the starter.

I think so.

I don't think Randle is ever going to light it up, but I think he has the juice to be effective in this scheme.

Seeing how the Giants played our running game, I don't know why we didn't run more play action. Unaga would have been absolutely ineffective. That guy is a hitter and has a great nose for the ball in the running game though.

Toughest running comes early when the defense is fresh.

Getting behind didn't help.

Agreed and I really think they screwed themselves bringing in McFadden. Randle was just starting to hit a groove and then sits for half an hour.

Good job by Randle overall. Great use of Dunbar. Once McFadden gets comfortable watch out. You can see a little hesitancy getting to the hole but once he gets there great acceleration.

I pity the safety or LB who has to cover him on a quick release from the backfield. They will only feel the vapor trail..................

If things change in regard to his patience and vision, it will come after years of waiting, because he never improved in those areas in Oakland either. That being said, if what he needs is to be a little more comfortable, I am all for it. I would love to see him knifing through defenses. I just don't expect it.

Randle has started games before and has never shown he can be the lead back.

He is a great back-up and is probably only good for 10-15 carries. He has to be part of a RBBC.

I don't trust him to get the tough yards at all.

McFadden has that Home Run explosion but otherwise he struggles. We have seen what he can do and it's not much.

Thats the problem with a RBBC. One running back gets into a grove and another comes in. I'm not a fan of it. We were so successful having a dominant back and I don't see why we would want to change it.

I intentionally said as The Starter. He might have started games before but he was not The Starter in regards to the season.

There is not enough info to make any conclusions at this point.

15 carries would still likely make him the lead back.

They have other options if he does not get thw job done.

He started 2 games as rookie and looked like a rookie, and started 1 game last year with Weeden at QB against a very good defensive team in the Cardinals. He has more starts that than the uber talented Michael. Is Randle the next coming of Sayers nobody has said he was. He so far shows he is solid back that needs seasoning. Is more talented than DMC or Michael no but he has proven to stay healthy unlike DMC, the jury is still out on Michael.

Which means what????

He has to be part of a RBBC. Nothing is going to get discovered this year.

Our running game with be up and down and not a particular strength. None of them do anything great.

I've seen it come up a couple of times now, not just in this thread, that Randle isn't going to get the big play. He's way more of a home run threat than Murray ever was or will be.

He's got 2 TD runs of 40+ yards in his career. DeMarco Murray has 1, against the Rams as a rookie.
