Has anyone heard anything about how he's doing in OTAs? Has he put on any weight, lean muscle? Improved quickness? Anything? I wasnt impressed with any aspect of his game last season and theyve brought in some competition. Wondering if he's feelin the heat and working to keep his spot.

Im looking forward to seeing this youngsta, Ben Malena, but he seems like virtually the same player as Dunbar, with maybe a bigger chip on his shoulder.

I'd venture to say we probably haven't heard anything about him because he's gradually sinking into anonimity. There'll likely be other RBs coming along to supplant someone like him who hasn't been able to demonstrate he excels in any phase of his craft. Will he ultimately be able to divest himself of that reputation? Stay tuned.

He is average in every way. In my opinion, he doesn't belong in the NFL...and I'm not sure any amount of offseason work could fix that.

They were talking pretty highly about on the latest talking cowboys. In the context of Linehan lining RBs out wide.

He has been working at the Michael Johnson Performance Center and he now run a 4.25 forty.

If anything, he is versatile which may keep him in the league for a few years. Not sure it will be with the Cowboys...

I'm not so sure. These day's Rb's more effective than him are found in every round. I just don't see him edging out competition on any roster, but I certainly could be wrong. I think, if he stays here it will be because one of the other guys is injured and he, at least, has familarity with the offense.

I'll admit, I never saw "it" in him, but I am willing to give him another offseason to prove me wrong.

My based-on-nothing opinion has me penciling in our RB depth chart as Demarco Murray (okay, his name is in ink), followed by Ryan Williams and Ben Malena as a surprise player.

I think they will find a role for Lance Dunbar, as well. They may actually keep 4 Rb's, considering Murray's injury history.

Don't you guys think its a little early in the process to decide Randle's a bust?

I mean I can only think of about 6 RBs in the history of the Franchise who started as rookies and had an impact.

Don Perkins

Dan Reeves

Calvin Hill

Dwayne Thomas

Tony Dorsett

Emmitt Smith

There is lesser list of

Ron Springs

Hershel Walker

Preston Pearson

MBIII

and I'm sure several others I've left off that came by trade or FA but they were not rookies.

So I think Randle needs another TC to even evaluate him.

He may not make it, because he didn't look too good last year. But he isn't an "OTA star" kind of back anyway because he's a tough, all-around, non-spectacular kind of player. The guys who stand out in these kinds of practices are the Dunbars of the world who have a lot of speed and quickness but might lack something else when real football games are being played.

There are probably no updates, because the reporters are focusing on the new and injured players. There are only a few reports about the vets and they're about the usual suspects.

Also... Aren't the second year players limited by the new CBA as to how much they can be out there? I heard Bruce Ariens talking about that one day on the radio. He said a lot of second-year fringe players aren't very happy about that, because they know they're competing against rookies who aren't under the same limitations.

Haven't heard that, at all. I imagine it would apply to rookie minicamp maybe, but not during OTAs. Even so, that would be odd, if true.

It was a confusing pick when it happened and few years later...its still confusing. He offers zero upside. Peripherals are average across the board. I am all for taking running backs in middle rounds but they should have potential of starting one day. If your looking for fringy RBs who will be career backups...why not use late rounds for that.
