Joseph Randle

With his all around skills, the Cowboys probably also think he can be their main back if Murray is injured and can't play.

I completely agree. Murray has yet to see a full 16 games of the schedule, so the team needs a good #2. I'm also hoping that Randle's all-around skills (especially in the passing game) will save a little wear & tear on Murray as the season progresses.

I loved getting Randle, I watched a lot of his games and the guy is an all around RB and was a work horse at OSU has never had major injury problems. I think he and Murray will make a very good combo for the Cowboys

I thought the pick was a good value, too. I just don't love things about his game on tape. Mostly I just wish he had better speed, but then, that's why he fell. I do think he's a good fit in the role we've got for him, and I did like what I've heard from him in interviews.

I thought DM ran too upright in college, too, though it doesn't seem to have been an issue for him in the pros.

Its perplexing selection on several fronts: 1) why draft RB similar to your starting RB when you should have been drafting for speed that Def would need to adjust to. 2) why did Jerry & T. Boone make the selection and not the dallas cowboys scouting department.

Once you get over those two big hurtles its not horrible pick because he has some talent but looks to have limited upside due to lack of second-gear speed.

You really don't understand why we drafted a back similar to our oft injured starter? Seriously?

I wished Emmitt had better speed. :D

He is a football player he gets the job done and does what is asked of him.

no i dont. If they don't think Murray is their guy...they should have moved him on draft day. The idea of second back is to keep your defense off balance. You do that by havings RBs who play at different speeds. You don't do that by having two similar RB who defense can basically game plan for the same. It was the good pick on the wrong team is how I can best summarize it.

If he turns out like Emmitt did, I promise, I won't be shy about admitting I was wrong to be skeptical. :)

Not saying he is Emmitt, I just don't judge a RB by measurable alone. I judge him on what he does on the field. Randle is an all around RB he is not speed guy but has good burst to get through the line, he has good hands in the passing game and he does a good job in blocking.

Did you read his #2. That says it all.:lmao:

He looks exactly like Demarco Murray to me except not as physically gifted. Everything is almost the same though.

This exatly what I see. I have no idea how anyone sees a similarity to Dunbar or Bush.

Dunbar is the change of pace back. Joseph Randle comes in when Murray needs a breather/gets hurt without having to change up your play calling because they are the same type of runner.

I like Randle. Seems to me, to be the kind of dependable Richie Anderson type.
Nothing special, but a tough jack-of-all-trades type RB who can fulfill a variety of roles on the team and fill in as starter in a pinch

Yeah this guy isn't a scat back.

He's just a do it all back that doesn't really have a hole in his game.

I doubt we see a lot of big plays from the guy but we'll see a lot of solid plays.

I'd be shocked if he pans out so well that he gets a 2nd contract here but I think he'll be good for us while he is here.

Despite the fact that we had a chance to get Bell, Joesph Randle is a good pickup for the Cowboys. I just hope Randle & Murray can form a nice duo along with Dunbar and have the Cowboys back inthe top 10-15 teams in rushing again.

Being last inthe league in rushing is a tough pill to swallow

the way things have gone in Dallas the last few years, he better be ready not just to play, but to be the starter.

my favorite thing about Randle is he is primarily a downhill runner AND has soft hands. has decent elusiveness in the open field but that is more than compensated for in his knack to go north/south instead of trying to be cute going towards the sideline and only getting 1-2 yards

i think he'll give Dunbar some great competition

Reminds me alot of Reggie Bush. Nice.
Talk about two completely different opinions :laugh2:

Cierra Wood will be better and the Texans signed him as a Free agent.

I really like this pick a lot. He's got good quickness (lateral agility), good burst, can catch anything you throw at him, has good vision to spot the holes even if they're not straight in front of him and, most importantly, can block as well as any back in the league. Great value pick in the 5th round. I don't think we'll lose much at the position if he has to carry the load for a few weeks while Murray is inevitably out with injury.

One thing he does particularly well that most college backs don't do is not try to bounce out if he can push ahead and gain that extra 3 yards.

After watching his "highlights".....(remind you this is his highlights..who knows what else is out there)

I thought he ran rather high...and looks to take too much punishment.

He got away w/ that in college.... I fear he is just asking to get lite up on the next level if he doesn't lower his pad level.

Will be interesting to see what kind of vision he has. He had all kinds of huge running lanes @ OSU.....which he will find non-existent in Big D. So hopefully he will be able to find and squeeze though 1/2 the size of running lanes he was accustomed to @ OSU.

Looks like he has decent hands.......But can he block?

Some of those clips looked like he might get a little over whelmed by the blitz by Lbers on this level. We will see.

Great observation. I'm not at all impressed by the highlight reel.
