It’s early, but the returns from OTA’s and minicamp don’t sound super promising surrounding Ball’s year two development. The rumors out of camp painted a picture of a guy still struggling with strength and technical issues when dealing with speed and power as a pass protector and run blocker. While that’s not great news for the Cowboys swing tackle outlook, it’s still early and a lot of times training camp will tell the real story, especially for guys going into their second year. The Cowboys need Ball to step up and earn the swing tackle job, because rookie Matt Waletzko and veteran Aviante Collins are guys who fans shouldn’t feel good about if they are asked to play much in 2022.

Always leery about guys who take a redshirt year over soft tissue injuries. Pads in a couple weeks, will know more then, but that's disappointing.
Can't stand em. They never pan out.

we'll find out once training camp starts.

I'd rather we'll find out ..once training camp and preseason games Ends ...

- Maybe Ball had a underwhelming mini.. but yet he maybe the type that gets better the more he practices.
Some just develop slower than others, and need a bit more practice reps than others.
And believe it or not, some actually play better in live games than they do practice.

- Remember when even Terrence Steele was having his bouts and downs in just last year's preseason games ?
Yet when duty called for him to fill in and play well, he was up to the task.

- And i remember another athletic project was like that in Jeremy Parnell, he did not hit the ground running, and
struggled a number of times in camp, but yo and behold, he became a revelation once the reg games were here.

- i'm not for overreacting this soon, but rather see how it turns out at summers' end. with Josh Ball.

What's funny is that Broaddus' expertise was suppose to be OL. He even admits that every time he questions an OL strength the guy ends up being All-Pro.
