The comments can all be traced back to 1 source...Broaddus.

Fans/media don't know the status of Josh Ball.

Mini-Camps and OTAs

The depth chart is all that we know:

LT
Tyron
Tyler
Waldo

RT
Steele
Ball

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly how much strength is on display in minicamps and OTAs. Technique can definitely be a concern, though. Really, that's all they have right now to look at. I mean, I think it's understood that Ball is not a power player, and neither is Waldo, but we need to see them in full pads before we determine that's an issue.

These comments are solely based on a couple weeks of minicamp.

reminder: minicamp was install portion of practice and basic run through without pads. And most Lineman, defense or offense, play harder and better with pads. It’s the most physical part of the game. So it makes sense

That said: the “rumors” carry no weight. A 4th Rd,‘red shirt’ sophomore is having a slow start. I suppose I’m not surprised

I used to like Broaddus more. He kinda sounds like the jilted girlfriend these days.

When a radio station has to hawk a scout from 30 yrs ago yeah I’m not listening . Draft night I couldn’t take the Las Vegas circus act so I tuned into Hitzgez and the ticket .

Anyhow when Ball contributed zero his rookie year I had some doubts have to admit. What about this 6’7” mountain drafted out of NDakota Waldo . Wonder if he pans out or Stephen and Philbin are in panic mode come August scouring the waiver wire for tackles .

I think they've already got this in mind, but first want to see if their "investments" in Ball and Waletzko pay off. There is always the nuclear option of putting Martin at right tackle and now Tyler Smith at left tackle, so we don't absolutely have to panic even though that would likely leave the line quite weak up the middle if both of those things happened.

What rumors out of minicamp? Did anyone hear any reports on Ball out of OTA/minicamp?

Maybe I missed it (and I could have)but this is the first anything that I’ve heard about Ball this year.

I'd rather we'll find out ..once training camp and preseason games Ends ...

- Maybe Ball had a underwhelming mini.. but yet he maybe the type that gets better the more he practices.
Some just develop slower than others, and need a bit more practice reps than others.
And believe it or not, some actually play better in live games than they do practice.

- Remember when even Terrence Steele was having his bouts and downs in just last year's preseason games ?
Yet when duty called for him to fill in and play well, he was up to the task.

- And i remember another athletic project was like that in Jeremy Parnell, he did not hit the ground running, and
struggled a number of times in camp, but yo and behold, he became a revelation once the reg games were here.

- i'm not for overreacting this soon, but rather see how it turns out at summers' end. with Josh Ball.
Good point about Steele. If I remember correctly we thought he wouldn't make the team this time last year. So a lot can happen between now and when the real guns start firing. Can someone remind me what his injury was? I can't remember what made him redshirt. I thought he was just raw and was redshirting.

If the perceived talent proves true then Ball could be a surprise contender this season. Fourth-round picks don’t always make the roster as rookies, let alone in future years, but opportunity is ripe in Dallas. Give Ball some time before making early judgments.
I'm waiting to hear Aiden Diggs' take on this before I start to worry.

It’s early but this is concerning OL and DL are this teams biggest issues and counting on starters to be healthy all season isn’t realistic

we need these depth guys to be serviceable in spot duty and open holes for zeke and block we’ll so zeke can be more than an overpaid blocker that keeps Dak uniform clean
