Once they lost Hutch, they had all the money in the world to match any offer to Brown.

At that point they hadn't lost him yet, or if the "poison pill" was big enough they would never match it. Like a bogus 50 million dollar roster bonus for playing 7 games a year in the state of Washington. No way they would've matched that.

Thats what I was going to say, and I would never spend a 1st round on a Kicker, but hes not bad at all.

I've been on this bandwagon for awhile now. His age and ability to kick off made him a much better option than Vandy IMO. Seattle was locked in a contract fight with Minnesota over Hutchinson. I think we could have snuck in and made off with him. An offer anywhere near what Vandy got would have done it. Major mistake by BP/JJ.

I agree that this statement appears to be true, but lets let BP/JJ have some credit. They have done a pretty fair job putting together a contender. If we keep improving at the rate we have we are gonna be as tough as barbed wire next year.
