Doesn't seem that Jackson wants to let him go just yet...despite giving RGIII all of the 1st team reps. We'll have to see. But a cool tidbit from the article.....

"The trade makes sense on another level: McCown is from Texas and acknowledged that if he were to go anywhere, Dallas would be his pick. The 37-year-old journeyman went out of his way to note that he wears No. 12 as a tribute to Roger Staubach."

He of course also states that when going to the NFL & entering the business side of things, that allegiances kind of go out the window.

Browns wan't a mid round pick, Dallas says lol. Dallas is going with Dak/Showers for now and will wait until a vet gets cut.

A vet getting cut might be good fiscally, but that is it. Last year should have made it very clear a vet coming in late in preseason or after the season begins is not going to work. Our coaching staff is not equipped to trust them nor get them at a level they need to be without a training camp. If they do not get one soon, they need to sleep in the bed they made.

No guarantee any vet will work, McCown included.

That is true with cassel, but what about weeden?
They never got him coached up or knew what to do with him.
So I dont think it matters, no vet qb is going to do good here.

That sounds like a fair solution to me as well. Perhaps the Cowboys will ultimately decide to let Showers and Dak compete for the backup job. Showers is making a better showing thus far, according to several reports I have read, although letting them compete with one another might well benefit both of them in the long run. The idea of giving the backup job to Moore was the FO's initial mistake that they're paying for now. Maybe a sturdier backup might not have gotten injured quite as easily. At any rate, we appear stuck with what we have for the time being.

I really don't know why the Browns would trade him. At this point he could end up as the starter in Cleveland after a few games.

Exactly right -- it's not altogether too difficult to see why the Browns might be reluctant to part ways with Josh (and us with Leary.)

Yes, but Browns are in a tough division and in rebuild mode again.
In the last 13 years they finished dead last in their division 11 times with only 1 winning season in 2007. Since then their record is 37-91 an awful 29% winning rate. They have been in rebuild mode for many, many years.

This.

Dallas failed to secure a more notable backup this off-season with the anticipation Moore would be a suitable option. They are going to ride Tony to great heights or into the ground. All or nothing.

Sidenote: I really wanted one of the top three QB prospects (at #4) in the draft but I am good with Zeke.

i'd just as soon gimp on by. romo goes, let dak learn and lets see what he's got. may not be fair, but life never has been. need to see what the kid has.

Same with Showers. We'll find out if he is backup material or if he's all wet.
